The Breaking Point of Love / The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife — Chapter 552
Hector was stunned. “T-That expensive?”
Even Betty and Adeline were momentarily speechless. Betty turned to Celeste. “Cel, come take a look.”
Celeste had already heard everything. When she first held the gift box, she could tell from its weight and texture that Trevor hadn’t given her anything cheap—but she never imagined this. Just as her aunt said, this red diamond was far more radiant and pure than the one she had auctioned off years ago. And that two-billion estimate… was probably modest.
From the look on Celeste’s face, everyone realized she hadn’t expected Trevor to give her something so extravagant either.
Hector frowned. “So… what now? Return it?”
After all, she and Trevor were about to finalize their divorce. A gift like this—
“Keep it.”
Betty shut the brocade box firmly. “Just think of it as something for Jo. When she grows up, give it to her. If you return it now, the only person who’ll benefit is someone else.”
That “someone else” was clearly Wynn.
Celeste nodded. She agreed completely. Even though the diamond’s value was shocking, she remained composed. She neither knew nor cared why Trevor would send her something so outrageously expensive.
After finishing her pancakes, she headed upstairs, set the box casually on her cabinet without a second thought, and left for work.
Matthias hadn’t forgotten her birthday either. The moment she arrived at the office, she received his flowers and a gift. After making a wish and blowing out the candles, she sliced the cake and shared it with everyone. Matthias accepted the first piece from her, looking quietly pleased.
Amid the laughter and chatter, he lowered his voice.
“Trevor didn’t reach out today… to finalize the divorce, did he?”
He’d been worried for days but never dared ask. Seeing Celeste show up early at the office—clearly not meeting Trevor—he finally relaxed.
“No.”
Her tone was steady. She didn’t mention Trevor’s gift.
After everyone finished the cake and began cleaning up, the receptionist walked in holding a bouquet.
“This delivery is for you, Ms. Rodriguez.”
It was a bouquet of red roses.
Celeste took it and glanced at the small card tucked inside:
Cel, happy birthday. —Caleb
Kieran happened to walk by just as she set the card down. His smile dimmed slightly.
Once the small celebration wrapped up, the team trickled back to their desks. Even so, they couldn’t help noticing that within the next ten minutes, Celeste received three more bouquets.
One was from Lottie.
Another was from Kieran—also roses. Since Celeste wasn’t officially divorced yet, he didn’t want to stir up unnecessary gossip, so he had someone else deliver them on his behalf. He had even planned to give her another gift, but knowing how cautious she was, he decided against it, afraid she might not even accept the flowers.
And the third bouquet—
It was from Beck.
