The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 551
Jordyn handed Celeste the gift Trevor had prepared for her—but just as Celeste reached for it, Jordyn pulled it back and clung to her hand playfully.
“Mom, look at my gift first!”
Celeste paused. “…Alright.”
She opened the box while Jordyn watched with bright, eager eyes.
Inside was a neatly framed oil painting.
The person in the painting… was her.
In the lower right corner, a small line of text read: “To my Mom, happy birthday.”
Celeste’s heart jolted as if struck. Her hand froze midair, gripping the frame a little too tightly.
Jordyn shook her hand gently. “I started working on it half a month ago! Do you like it, Mom?”
Pulled from her daze, Celeste looked at her daughter’s hopeful expression. Her emotions tangled tightly inside her chest, but she answered honestly, “I love it. You’re getting really good at painting, sweetheart.”
Hearing that, Jordyn’s face lit up with pure joy. “If you like it, I’ll paint another one for you next time!”
“Okay.”
Satisfied, Jordyn finally shoved Trevor’s gift into her hand. “Mom, I have to go to school now or I’ll be late! I’ll come again tonight for dinner, okay?”
“Alright.”
At some point, Betty and the others had stepped outside too.
Jordyn waved at them happily before hopping back into the car and leaving.
Once she was gone, Celeste quietly turned back toward the house.
Trevor sending a gift didn’t mean he wasn’t still planning to finalize the divorce today—so no one in the Rodriguez family said anything.
Adeline gently broke the silence. “The pancakes are ready, Cel. Come eat first.”
“Okay.”
Celeste went inside, setting aside both gifts—Jordyn’s painting and Trevor’s box—without giving them much thought.
Betty picked up the painting and studied it carefully, her expression softening. “She did such a nice job. That child really poured her heart into this.”
Hector, on the other hand, could barely stand the sight of anything Trevor-related. His gaze landed on the unopened gift box, and his lips tightened in irritation. For a moment, he almost wanted to toss it straight into the trash.
But since Celeste hadn’t done that herself, he held back.
“Celeste,” he asked, “can I open the gift he sent you?”
Celeste genuinely didn’t care about what was inside. She had no desire to look—she knew Trevor only sent something because Jordyn was involved.
It didn’t mean anything.
“Go ahead,” she said.
Hector picked up the box.
Even the material of the packaging made it obvious it wasn’t cheap, and it was heavier than he expected. When he opened it, Betty—standing beside him—stiffened instantly.
Hector blinked. “Is this… a red diamond?”
Adeline, who knew a thing or two about jewelry, stepped closer for a better look—and her eyes widened.
It was a red diamond.
A massive one—easily over a hundred carats.
An extremely rare gemstone of this size… its value was unimaginable.
Hector remembered hearing how Celeste once auctioned a diamond to pay for Isabelle’s medical treatment.
He didn’t know much about gems, but judging by the stunned expressions on his grandmother and mother’s faces—and the way the stone glowed like fire in his palm—he could tell this wasn’t just expensive.
Seeing his confusion, Adeline finally spoke, her voice low. “This red diamond… it’s even purer and rarer than the one Cel had before—and almost twice as big. I think it’s worth at least two billion.”
