The Breaking Point of Love or The Zillionaire’s Abandoned Wife Chapter 550
Celeste shook her head.
Matthias asked, “Is it still because he’s busy with work?”
Matthias fell silent after saying that. Sure, Trevor’s recent business ventures had been making waves, but no matter how busy he was, it didn’t make sense that he couldn’t spare even half an hour to finalize a divorce.
If Matthias didn’t already know the full story, he might’ve assumed Trevor was intentionally stalling. But knowing their situation, he understood that wasn’t possible.
He patted Celeste’s shoulder. “Then give it a few more days. If he still hasn’t made time by the end of the reflection period, just file for divorce yourself.”
Celeste nodded. “Okay.”
Although she said that, deep down, she didn’t think it would come to that.
Two days later, it was Celeste’s birthday.
—
She woke up early that morning. Betty and Adeline were already in the kitchen, making pancakes and preparing cake. They had her birthday gifts ready.
When Celeste came downstairs, they handed them to her with warm smiles.
“Cel, happy birthday! You’re another year older.”
“Happy birthday, Celeste!”
Warmth filled her heart as she accepted each gift. “Thank you.”
The pancakes weren’t done yet, and they were still chatting when the phone rang—security calling to say someone was at the gate.
When she heard the license plate number, she knew it was Trevor’s car.
Everyone in the Rodriguez family fell silent. Their smiles stiffened; their expressions darkened.
They all knew the only reason Celeste and Trevor hadn’t completed the divorce was because he’d been busy. And Trevor had always been firm about wanting the divorce.
He never thought about Celeste’s feelings at all.
Chances were, he didn’t even remember today was her birthday.
Still, even though everyone—including Celeste—wanted the divorce finalized, if Trevor had really come today of all days to end things, it would still hurt.
Everyone looked at her.
Celeste paused, then said calmly, “Let him in.”
After the call ended, Jamie stared at her with worried eyes, unable to find the right words. Hector’s face darkened. “This is too much—”
Even if Trevor didn’t love Celeste, did he really need to hurt her like this?
Betty and Adeline stayed quiet. They could’ve asked Trevor to postpone things out of respect for Betty—he probably would have agreed. But… what would be the point?
Celeste could sense their concern. She turned to them and said softly, “I’m fine.”
It was just a divorce. Whether it happened today or any other day—it didn’t really change anything.
Outside, the sound of a car pulling up broke the tense silence.
Hector, still furious, started toward the door, but Celeste stopped him.
“Celeste—”
She shook her head. “Don’t.”
She walked out alone.
The moment she reached the doorway, the car door opened and Jordyn hopped out, holding something in her arms. When she saw Celeste, the little girl ran over with a bright smile.
“Mom, happy birthday!”
Celeste froze.
Jordyn held up the item she was carrying. “Mom, this is my gift for you!”
Before Celeste could say anything, Jordyn dug into her backpack and pulled out another box.
“This one’s from Dad. He couldn’t come, so he asked me to bring it. He also told me to say happy birthday for him!”
