Celeste and Trevor walked side by side out of the hospital room. After they had gone a fair distance, Celeste took the initiative to speak, “You can say what you want now.” 1

Trevor turned his head to look at her. “Grandma’s condition hasn’t stabilized yet. I’d like to postpone the divorce for a few more days.”

Celeste didn’t look at him. Hearing this, her expression showed no surprise. 2

After a moment of silence, she said, “Got it.”

“Thank you.”

As she was about to walk away, Trevor added, “Is there anything you want? As a token of gratitude, I can help you with anything -or grant you a wish.” 7

Celeste paused slightly at that, but without turning around, she replied calmly, “It’s fine. You can’t give me what I want.” 10
