    The Almighty Dominance Chapter 525

“Alex!” Felicia screamed, her voice shredding with panic. “You’re my son-in-law! Pauline is my daughter! You’re both my guarantors!”

“Mom!” Pauline cried out, horror flooding her face. “What did you do?!”

The two men slowly turned their cold, predatory gazes toward Alex and Pauline, assessing them the way traders inspected livestock.

“These two,” one of them said indifferently. “A strong young man and a young woman. Much better guarantors than a useless old woman.”

They shoved Felicia aside without hesitation and released her.

“You’re free,” the man said flatly. “We’ll keep them.”

Felicia stumbled back, terror overtaking her face. She retreated in frantic steps, shouting as she backed away, “I’m sorry! I swear I’ll get the money outside! Please—stay here!”

    Then she turned and ran.

    She never looked back.

Pauline instinctively rushed after her, but a staff member seized her arm and yanked her back.

A large, thick-necked man stepped forward, towering over Alex and Pauline like a wall of muscle.

“You two,” he growled, closing the distance. “Come with me. If you can’t pay, you’ll work in the mine until your mother comes up with the money.”

Pauline was shaking so badly she could barely stand. She clutched Alex’s coat and hid behind him.

Alex lifted his head and stared straight at the man. Fear flickered in his eyes—but not submission.

“And if I refuse?” Alex asked calmly.

The man sneered. “Then I break your bones.”

    He lunged.

    Alex moved.

A sharp slap cracked through the room.

The big man flew backward and slammed into the ground, eyes rolling back as he lost consciousness.

    The others froze.

    “How dare you—!”

Two men rushed Alex at the same time.

    Another slap.

    One collapsed.

    Another slap.

    The second went down.

The remaining staff stared in disbelief as four men charged together.

Pauline screamed and pressed herself tighter against Alex’s back, hands trembling.

    It didn’t matter.

    One slap. One body.

    Four men attacked.

    Four slaps answered.

    All four hit the floor.

    Silence swallowed the room.

Alex lifted his gaze toward the second floor, eyes narrowing. “Wait here,” he said quietly. “I’ll see what’s upstairs.”

“No,” Pauline said, her voice shaking. “I—I’m coming with you.”

    Alex didn’t argue.

They climbed to the second floor. Wooden crates were stacked everywhere—rough, old, neglected. One box sat open. Inside were tightly packed books, dense with writing from Xia.

A middle-aged man stepped forward, his expression cold and professional.

“Are you Mrs. Felicia’s guarantor?” he asked. “She bid on a mysterious box at the auction.”

He gestured toward the open crate.

“This is what she opened,” he said flatly. “Books. From Xia.”

He fixed Alex with a hard stare.

“The price is one million dollars per box.”

This man was Klaus Dornberg, manager of Thorn & Coin.

Klaus looked at Alex with icy contempt. “So,” he said coldly, “how do you plan to settle this?”

Alex spread his hands, relaxed. “I don’t have any money.”

“No money?” Klaus clenched his jaw, fury flaring. “Felicia claimed you were rich.”

His voice darkened. “You opened the box. That alone is unforgivable. And now you dare say you have no money?” He leaned forward. “Do you want to die?”

Alex smiled faintly. “Then how do you plan to kill me?”

“You arrogant brat!” Klaus stomped his foot. “Guards! Get up here! Beat him down and make him kneel!”

    Silence answered.

Alex tilted his head slightly. “How many guards do you have?” he asked calmly. “If it’s only ten, they’re all asleep downstairs.”

    “That’s impossible,” Klaus snapped.

    He rushed down the stairs.

Every guard lay scattered across the floor—groaning, unconscious, broken.

    Klaus went pale.

    This man is dangerous.

Panic crashed into him. He immediately pulled out his phone and called his boss. Only after that did he force himself back upstairs.

He pointed at Alex, finger trembling with rage. “You—you dared touch my people. You’re dead. I’ve called my boss. Pay for the box and my guards’ medical bills, or you’ll never see the sky again.”

Alex was already seated at the manager’s desk.

He picked up a book from the box and flipped through it, calm and detached, as if no one else existed.

“Do whatever you think you should do.”

He reached across the desk, grabbed a handful of chocolates and candy, and placed them in Pauline’s hands.

“Leave this place. Go find your mother.”

“No,” Pauline said immediately. “I’m staying with you. They could kidnap me outside.”

She was still shaken, but watching Alex dismantle grown men so effortlessly made her feel safer beside him.

She took the candy, sat quietly, and glanced around at the strange objects in the room.

Klaus Dornberg had never met someone this reckless. He pointed at Alex, his voice shaking. “You… you’ll regret this when my people arrive.”

    His blood boiled.

If he didn’t crush Alex here and now, word would spread. Thorn & Coin would look weak. Its reputation would be trampled.

    Alex ignored him.

He reached into the wooden box and pulled out book after book—nearly twenty in total—scanning each one calmly.

Years ago, Alex had mastered the Xia language.

The books were nothing special—cheap cultivation techniques and basic movement manuals, widely circulated and studied throughout Xia.

    Interesting at first glance.

    Ultimately worthless.

One by one, he emptied the box.

    Then he paused.

His fingers brushed the base of the crate.

    There—almost invisible—a thin carved line.

    Alex’s eyes sharpened.

    He pressed lightly.

    A hollow sound answered.

    A hidden compartment.

    One precise knock.

    The concealed drawer slid open.

Inside lay a single thick book.

    No title. No markings.

    Alex opened it.

    Formations.

    His breathing slowed.

He had studied countless manuals—healing, cultivation, combat—but never formations.

    This was different.

    Rare.

    Complex.

    Powerful.

    His focus locked in completely.

He read, absorbed, unaware of the storm gathering around him.

Klaus paced restlessly, watching Alex sit there, calmly reading, as if the world posed no threat. It made his skin crawl.

    Then—

Footsteps thundered from the first floor.

    Klaus stiffened and rushed downstairs.

    “Boss!”

The owner of Thorn & Coin arrived with nearly thirty men behind him, their presence heavy and oppressive.

“Where is the man who beat our people?” the boss demanded coldly.

“He’s upstairs,” Klaus said quickly. “Reading a book. Boss, you need to teach him a lesson.”

The boss stepped forward, eyes hard. “Of course. Do you think I’d let someone trample our place and walk away? Everyone—upstairs.”

Pauline froze as the group surged toward the stairs. Panic gripped her.

    Alex remained seated, unmoved.

She rushed to his back, pressing close.

The boss entered the room, fury rising to his throat. He opened his mouth to shout—

    “Who dares—”

The moment his eyes landed on Alex, all color drained from his face.

    The words died.

    He stopped breathing.

Klaus rushed up beside him and shouted, “My boss is here! How dare you—”

Before he could finish, the boss spun around in blind panic and slapped Klaus across the face—once, twice, brutally.

“Shut up!” he hissed. “Shut up! Don’t you dare disturb him!”

Klaus staggered back, clutching his cheek.

“Boss! Why are you hitting me?! He beat our men!”

The boss struck him again, harder.

“You idiot,” he hissed. “You almost got us all killed.”
