Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 941
10 years later.
“Ryder! I need you to put your shoes on right now!” Judy called from the bottom of the stairs.
She turned just in time to catch our five-year-old walking out of the kitchen. Her eyes narrowed.
“Casey, sweetheart… what’s all over your face?” Judy asked, the stress obvious in her voice.
Casey just grinned and licked her fingers.
“Chocolate,” she said, looking entirely too proud of herself.
Judy tipped her head back with a groan.
“You’re going to be the death of me, child,” she muttered. Then her gaze shifted—landing directly on me, where I’d been leaning against the wall, pretending not to watch. “And you… why aren’t you helping?”
I pushed off the wall and walked over to my beautiful wife—my Luna.
“Because you’re kind of sexy when you go full boss mode,” I teased, sliding my arms around her and kissing her temple.
She looked up at me with a scowl.
“Seriously? In front of Casey?” she asked, pointing a finger at me. “Behave, Mister.”
I grinned and pretended I was going to bite her finger. She pulled it back before I could catch it.
“We need to get going,” Judy said, hands on her hips.
I exhaled slowly.
“Babe, why are you so stressed? It’s not even your party,” I reminded her, squeezing her shoulder. “You don’t have to carry the whole thing on your back.”
She frowned up at me.
“She’s my best friend,” Judy said, crossing her arms. “Her twins are turning nine today. I need to be there for them. I promised her I would.”
I knew what this was really about. Things had been strained between her and Nan lately. Life had gotten busy—Nan running her five-star restaurant while raising twins, Judy balancing life as a Luna and a mom. Time had become a luxury neither of them had.
I stepped in front of her, forcing her to focus on me. When she finally stopped talking, I placed my hands on her shoulders, grounding her.
“It’s going to be okay,” I said quietly.
She held my gaze for a second, then nodded. “You’re right. It is.”
She stepped back and closed her eyes, whispering under her breath. I knew that look. I knew exactly what she was doing.
A second later, white orbs slipped from her body and floated toward the stairs.
I glanced at her. She watched them with calm fascination.
“What did you just do?” I asked.
“What needed to be done,” she replied, giving me a pointed look.
Before I could respond, Ryder’s voice echoed through the house.
“Hey! Not fair!” he shouted.
When he came into view, the white orbs were wrapped around his arms, guiding—dragging—him down the stairs.
His shoes were on.
Untied, but on.
“That wasn’t fair,” Ryder growled. “I tried to undo the magic like you taught me, and it didn’t work.”
Judy’s expression softened immediately. She knelt in front of him and tied his shoes.
“It didn’t work because my magic is stronger,” she said gently. “You’ll get there one day, Ryder. You just have to keep practicing.”
“And you need to start listening to your mother,” I added firmly. “When she tells you to do something, you do it. We raised you better than that. You’re the Alpha Heir. One day you’ll take over my entire empire. What’s going on with you?”
“Sorry, Dad… sorry, Mom,” he mumbled, staring at his shoes. “I just don’t want to go to this stupid party.”
“That’s not very nice,” Judy said with a frown.
“Kenzi isn’t nice,” Ryder shot back, folding his arms. “I don’t want to celebrate her birthday.”
“But you and Kylie are friends. Shouldn’t you want to be there for her?” Judy asked, raising an eyebrow.
He sighed heavily.
“I guess.”
“Come on,” I said. “It won’t be that bad. Your brother will be there.”
That changed everything. Ryder lit up instantly. He adored Matthew.
Matthew was at the same college Judy had attended, living in a dorm now, so we didn’t see him as often. Any chance to spend time with him was enough motivation.
Once shoes were tied and Casey’s chocolate-covered face was finally clean, we were ready to go.
Nan and Chester lived in a manor not far from us. When we pulled up, I parked the car, and we all headed toward the front doors together.
The butler opened the door before we could knock.
He stepped aside and bowed his head slightly.
“The Landrys have arrived,” he announced, motioning for us to enter.
Judy placed her hands on both kids’ shoulders and guided them inside. I followed behind.
We couldn’t have been more different walking into that house.
She moved with quiet hesitation, still carrying that lingering doubt—like she wasn’t entirely sure she belonged in spaces like this.
I walked in like I owned it.
Like I didn’t care what anyone thought.
“What took you so long?” Nan rushed toward Judy the second we stepped inside. “I don’t have nearly enough food for all these people, and I’m completely stuck in the kitchen.”
“Let me help you,” Judy said, slipping off her coat and handing it to the butler. “Just give me a minute to get my family settled first.”
