Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 937

The reception was already in full swing by the time Gavina and I arrived.

Carter’s resort barely resembled its usual restaurant. All the tables and chairs had been cleared away, opening up a wide dance floor in the center. Soft white drapes hung from the ceiling beams, fairy lights woven through them like tiny stars. Round tables filled the room, each decorated with simple centerpieces of white roses and greenery.

The whole space felt warm and inviting.

It was exactly what I had envisioned. Exactly what I wanted for this wedding.

The moment we stepped inside, a cheer erupted from the crowd. The sound was so loud it echoed off the walls, and I couldn’t stop myself from smiling.

But the knot in my stomach only tightened.

I knew it wouldn’t ease until I saw Nan.

I scanned the crowd, searching for her face, but she was nowhere in sight. That only made the anxiety worse. It wasn’t like her to leave without telling me. She was part of the wedding party—she was supposed to be in the limo with us.

Gavin’s warm hand settled at the small of my back. I looked up at him. His expression was calm, but there was concern in his eyes.

“Are you okay?” he asked softly, just for me.

I nodded, even though I was anything but okay. The thought that something might have happened to my best friend made my chest tighten. I didn’t know how I’d handle it if that were true.

“Congratulations,” Lucy said as she approached, Alpha Sampson right behind her, his eyes fixed on her the way Gavin’s were always fixed on me—like danger might appear out of nowhere at any second.

“I’m so happy for you,” Lucy continued. “How does it feel to be an official Luna?” She nudged me playfully.

“Technically, I don’t become the official Luna until tomorrow night, when I’m sworn in,” I told her. “But it feels incredible to be Gavin’s wife.”

“Oh, trust me, everyone already sees you as their Luna,” she said with a bright smile. “You don’t have anything to worry about. We need to get together soon.”

    “Definitely,” I agreed.

Lucy kissed both my cheeks before stepping back. “I’m grabbing food. I’m starving,” she announced, tugging Sampson toward the buffet on the far side of the room.

I laughed and turned back to Gavin.

“Maybe we should grab some food too,” I suggested, intertwining my fingers with his.

“We will,” he said, raising a brow. “But first, you’re going to tell me what’s wrong. I can feel it. You should be glowing right now, but instead you’re anxious. What is it?”

Of course I couldn’t hide it from him. Damn mate bond.

I exhaled and bit down on my lower lip.

“Nan left without saying anything,” I admitted. “And I don’t see her here. Did she really bail on my wedding?”

His expression softened instantly. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me against his chest.

“I’m sure she had a good reason,” Gavin murmured, cupping my face in his large hands. Then he kissed me—deep and intense, like a starving man who’d just found his only source of sustenance.

“Okay, you two, gross,” Irene teased as she walked up, arms folded.

Erik was right beside her—as he should be. It was good seeing them together. I was grateful they could both be part of the wedding—Irene as one of my bridesmaids and Erik as one of Gavin’s groomsmen.

Irene wrapped me in a tight hug.

“I’m so happy for you,” she breathed before pulling back. “And you look amazing.”

“Thanks to you,” I said, nudging her shoulder. “I have no idea what I would’ve done without you.”

“I guess I can officially call you family now,” she replied, then turned to her father. “Be good to her. She’s a good one.”

She pointed a warning finger at him.

He let out a loud, booming laugh before pulling Irene into a massive hug, nearly lifting her off the ground and squeezing the life out of her. When he set her back down, she looked annoyed—but there was a faint smile tugging at her lips.

Erik stepped up and slid an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. She went willingly, her cheeks flushing.

The four of us headed toward the buffet together. The smell alone was intoxicating, making my stomach rumble.

Dinner passed in a blur of laughter and small conversations. Pack members approached one by one to offer their congratulations.

Some of them were people who had once doubted me.

The same ones who used to whisper behind my back.
