Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 936
I paused and took a steadying breath. Tears blurred my vision, and I blinked hard, determined not to let them fall.
“I love you so much,” I said, my voice cracking despite my effort to stay composed. “And I wouldn’t want to do this—any of this—with anyone else.”
Gavin’s smile lit up the entire room. It made my chest ache in the best way. I wanted to step into him, to kiss him properly, but we weren’t there yet.
After our vows were finished, the priest cleared his throat, clearly fighting his own emotions.
“Now for the exchanging of the rings,” he announced, gesturing to Matt, our ring bearer.
Matt stepped forward with a grin that made me smile right back. He lifted the small pillow holding our rings, and my heart swelled all over again.
The ring wasn’t oversized or flashy—no grand display of wealth. It was simple. Perfect. A smooth white-gold band, strong without being heavy. At its center rested a pear-shaped moon gem, milky and luminous, glowing softly instead of sparkling harshly.
My eyes flew to Gavin’s.
“Is this the Moon Gem?” I whispered.
He nodded. “It felt right,” he said as he lifted the ring from the pillow. “With this, I promise you my love and my protection for the rest of my life—and beyond.”
He slid the ring onto my finger. The metal was warm against my skin, and my heart felt too full to hold everything I was feeling.
I picked up his band and met his gaze as I eased it onto his finger. It fit perfectly.
The rest of the ceremony passed in a blur of tears and laughter. And when the priest finally said, “You may kiss the bride,” Gavin didn’t hesitate. He pulled me into his arms and kissed me.
Everything inside me expanded at once. I wanted to deepen it, to forget the world and lose myself in him—but there was an audience. So I kept it soft, controlled, even as it took everything in me to pull away.
Gavin winked at me like he knew exactly what I was thinking. He probably did.
The crowd erupted in cheers as flower petals rained down on us. Laughing, I took Gavin’s arm, and he led me down the aisle toward the church doors. The reception was waiting at the Carter Resort.
The moment the doors closed behind us, the roar of the crowd dulled into a distant hum—laughter and cheers fading into the background.
Gavin pulled me gently into the side corridor.
For the first time all day, it was just us.
His hands settled at my waist, warm and steady, and he looked at me like he was still trying to convince himself this was real.
“You’re my wife,” he said quietly, almost in awe.
I laughed softly. “You’re stuck with me now. A little late for regrets.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “I could never regret you.” He brushed a loose strand of hair from my face.
He leaned down, but just before his lips could meet mine, the church doors swung open.
I turned to see my mom standing there, brows raised. Ryder was in her arms, dressed in the cutest little onesie.
“Hi, baby boy,” I cooed as I hurried over, gathering him into my arms and pressing him against my chest.
“We were just coming to find you,” Mom said. “The limo’s here. It’s taking you and the wedding party to the reception. Everyone else is driving themselves.”
I nodded, kissing the top of Ryder’s soft head. “Then we should go. Are Nan and Irene already in the limo?”
“Irene and Erik are,” she said. “But Nan left almost right after the ceremony. I’m not sure where she went.”
I frowned.
“She left?” I asked, confusion tightening my voice. “What do you mean my maid of honor left?”
