Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 931
I never imagined my wedding day would feel this calm.
Not peaceful exactly—my nerves were still there, fluttering low in my stomach—but calm in the way the air feels right before a storm breaks. Like everything had already been decided, and all that was left was for me to step into it.
I wasn’t nearly as hungover as I expected to be, and for that, I was grateful. I’m sure it had everything to do with the green concoction Irene forced down my throat at sunrise. She promised it would help. She was right. Within an hour, I was out of bed and functional—ready to take on the world.
Or at least my wedding.
And it was going to be huge.
Two full packs were attending, along with outsiders—the Lycan Chairmen and guests from around the world. Shirley and Tabby were here too, my friends from the competition.
I still kept in touch with Tabby, though not as often as I would’ve liked. I wished she lived closer. I’d heard she’d been promoted after Chuck lost his job.
A small part of me had worried they might blame me for what happened with Chuck. But the fact that they showed up today eased something deep in my chest.
Nan adjusted my veil for the third time while Irene worked on my makeup.
Selene and my mom stood nearby, watching with watery smiles.
Selene and I had talked briefly this morning. We agreed to really get to know each other in the coming weeks. She hadn’t said much about Lila, and I knew it was still a sensitive subject, so I didn’t push.
As for her other children—my brothers—they weren’t here. According to the guest list, neither of them came.
I wasn’t surprised.
I hadn’t expected them to.
What I hadn’t expected was the friendship that had formed between my mom and Gavin’s mom. I guess grandchildren have a way of bringing people together.
“Nan, you’re going to rip her hair out if you keep messing with that veil,” Irene warned, pulling me from my thoughts. She frowned as the clips tugged at my scalp. “Leave it alone.”
“It’s crooked,” Nan insisted. “She can’t walk down the aisle with a crooked veil.”
“It’s not crooked. You’re imagining it,” Irene said, rolling her eyes. “Trust me, it’s fine. Even if it wasn’t, my father wouldn’t care.”
“Photos will,” Nan shot back.
“We’ll fix it before the photos.”
“No. We’ll fix it now.”
“Ladies,” my mom said gently, stepping forward. She held out her hand toward Nan. “May I?”
Nan sighed and handed over the veil. “Suit yourself.”
My mom stepped closer and carefully adjusted it. I smiled up at her as she worked.
“You look beautiful, Judy,” she whispered, her voice catching. Tears filled her eyes before she could stop them. “I’m so happy for you.”
I turned toward the mirror.
The dress was simple—especially compared to what a Luna could have worn. Ivory silk. Long sleeves. Fitted, but comfortable. Gavin had offered designers, jewels, anything I wanted.
But I didn’t want to feel like a queen today.
I had Irene’s designer make something understated. Something that reflected who I actually was.
And it was comfortable. That mattered.
Irene stepped beside me, studying my reflection.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, reading my face.
“Just thinking,” I admitted, my heart beating fast against my ribs.
“About running away?” she teased, a smirk tugging at her lips.
I smirked back. “Maybe five minutes ago.”
Nan gasped loudly. “What?”
I burst out laughing.
“I’m joking, Nan. I’m not running anywhere,” I assured her, and my mom and Selene chuckled. “I’m marrying my fated mate. I couldn’t be happier.”
Nan let out a relieved breath just as a knock sounded at the door.
My mom moved to answer it.
Erik stood on the other side, holding a bouquet of white flowers. They were stunning—elegant and soft—and my heart swelled at the sight.
He plucked one bloom from the arrangement before walking toward me and handing me the bouquet.
“It’s almost time to head to the pack church,” he said gently. “Gavin’s already on his way.”
I nodded.
It was time.
Then Erik turned to Irene and bowed his head slightly, offering her the single flower.
Her cheeks flushed instantly. A bright smile spread across her face as she accepted it—and his offered arm.
He lifted his head, smiling as he drew her closer, and together they walked toward the doorway.
