Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 930
I couldn’t help but laugh at that logic.
“Ryder is an infant,” I reminded him. “You are not. You’re wearing the tux, Matthew.”
He groaned but didn’t argue.
I headed upstairs to the King’s suite. My suit was laid out neatly on the bed, waiting for me. I grabbed it and went straight into the bathroom to shower and get ready.
Excitement hummed under my skin. I was finally marrying the love of my life. I was never letting this woman go. And tonight, she would be bound to me in every way that mattered. I planned to mark her after the wedding—on our first night together as husband and wife.
When I finished showering, I put on the suit and studied myself in the mirror.
I had to admit, I cleaned up well.
I just hoped Judy thought so too.
A soft knock sounded at the door. I opened it to find my mother standing there.
“Mom? You came,” I said, pulling her into a hug.
She rose onto her toes to hug me back and kissed my cheek.
“Did you really think I’d miss my son’s wedding?” she asked with a light laugh. “Not a chance.”
“How have you been? I haven’t seen you in a while,” I said, guiding her into the room so we could talk.
After Daisy betrayed her and she lost the Moon Gem, she’d withdrawn from everyone. Between Daisy’s betrayal and my father’s lies, her heart had taken a brutal hit. I hated knowing she was carrying that kind of pain.
“I’ve been okay,” she said quietly. “I’ve had a lot of time to reflect these past few weeks. And I owe you an apology.” Tears filled her eyes. “I should’ve trusted you. I should’ve given you the benefit of the doubt. But I’m so happy for you, Gavin. And I’m happy for Judy. I can’t wait to welcome her into our family.”
“Wow, Mom. That means a lot,” I said, wrapping my arm around her. “Thank you. My mate will be happy to hear that.”
She squeezed me, then stepped back to take a good look at me.
“Oh, sweetheart, you look handsome—but we need to fix your hair,” she said, narrowing her eyes slightly.
I frowned, running a hand through it. “What’s wrong with it?”
She shook her head, smiling.
“How are you this powerful Lycan Chairman and still need your mother’s help with something this simple?” she teased. “Come here. Let me fix it.”
She sat me down on the bed and started fussing with my hair.
It felt… good. Comfortable. We hadn’t always had this kind of relationship. We’d never really taken the time. But something had shifted in her. She was trying. I could see it.
“So, how’s my grandbaby?” she asked. “And where is he?”
I smiled at the thought of Ryder—my heir.
“He’s with his other grandparents while Judy gets ready,” I said. “You can head to the villa if you want to see him.”
“That’s okay. I’ll see him later. I’ve actually gotten to know Michelle Montague pretty well these last few weeks,” she said. “I really enjoy our talks. We’ve bonded over our love for our grandson. We’re having tea next week.”
“Oh, really?” I asked.
“Yes. And Ryder will be with us, of course. We’re planning to spoil him rotten while you’re off on your honeymoon.”
I laughed.
“I don’t doubt that. Just don’t go overboard,” I warned.
She placed a hand over her chest in mock innocence. “Me? Overboard? Never.”
When she finished with my hair, she stepped back, clearly satisfied.
“Perfect,” she said, clapping her hands together softly. “Now you’re ready to get married.”
Her eyes filled with tears again, though she was smiling.
“What is it?” I asked, standing.
She shook her head and brushed at her cheeks.
“Sometimes I wish your father were here to see this,” she admitted, and my chest tightened. “But then I remember the secrets and the lies… and I realize it’s probably for the best that he isn’t.”
I wrapped my arm around her and kissed the top of her head.
“I love you, Mom,” I said, meaning every word.
“I love you too, Gavin,” she replied warmly. “Now… let’s go get you married.”
