Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 924
Irene screamed, snapping everyone’s attention back to her.
The glow that had once wrapped around her body was still blindingly bright, but now it surged outward—shooting from her chest straight toward Chuck.
This time, I knew it hurt.
Her scream tore through the room, raw and desperate.
And she wasn’t alone.
Chuck screamed too.
The agony seemed to bind them together, echoing between their bodies like a violent current. Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, it was over.
The light vanished.
Irene collapsed in a boneless heap, hitting the floor hard. Nan rushed to her side at once.
I exhaled shakily as the tingling sensation drained from my body. The glow was gone. The magic had settled.
Chuck lay motionless on the ground, unconscious.
An eerie, uncertain silence filled the room.
“That was… something,” Cora finally said, breaking it.
“I should get him back,” Taylor murmured, clearing his throat. “I need to contact Alpha Jeremy about the payments for him, and I’m sure Gavin will have questions of his own.”
I nodded. He was probably right.
“Are you going to be okay?” I asked.
He nodded back. “Yeah. I should be fine. No need to worry. I’ll let Gavin know it worked and that everything should be back to normal.”
“We don’t actually know that,” Nan said as she stood. “Irene passed out.”
“It worked,” I said firmly. “I can feel it.”
Nan didn’t look convinced, but she nodded anyway.
Taylor moved quickly, getting Chuck out of the mansion while he was still unconscious. I turned my attention back to Irene, who was beginning to stir.
“Is she going to be okay?” Nan asked, worry threading her voice.
“She’ll be fine,” Esme assured us. “She’ll be exhausted, but she only needs rest.”
Just as Taylor disappeared outside with Chuck, a new presence filled the doorway.
Erik.
He stood frozen, panic etched across his face as he stared at Irene. His wolf was right on the edge—I could see it in his posture, in the way his fists clenched. I knew if he didn’t reach her soon, he’d lose control.
I should have told him to keep his distance.
But I didn’t.
I understood.
If it were Gavin lying there, nothing in this world would have kept me away from him.
Erik looked at me, silently asking for permission.
I nodded.
I stood and stepped aside, motioning for Nan to do the same. She frowned at me, then glanced at Erik.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” she asked, uncertainty still lingering.
“They’re mates,” Cora said calmly, as if this were obvious. “He won’t hurt her. Their wolves need each other.”
Nan hesitated, then nodded and joined me a few steps back.
Erik wasted no time.
He went straight to Irene. She was barely conscious, and for a moment I worried how she’d react when she realized he was there. He’d scared her these past few weeks—enough that she hadn’t wanted to see him at all. He’d respected that, given her space.
But now the curse was broken.
And he was here—as her mate.
Erik gathered her into his arms and lifted her gently. She groaned softly, then rested her head against his chest, nuzzling into him instinctively.
I raised my brows.
They were… cuddling.
It was unexpectedly sweet, especially considering she was barely awake.
Then her eyes fluttered open.
She looked up at him.
Erik went completely still when he met her gaze. They stared at each other for a long moment—silent, unmoving.
Then Irene broke.
She burst into tears, wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his neck.
Every single one of us froze.
I looked at Nan. She looked just as stunned as I felt.
I opened my mouth to say something—but Irene spoke first, and her words stopped me cold.
In that moment, I knew everything would be okay again.
“Mate…” she whispered. “You truly are my mate.”
“And I am never letting you go,” Erik vowed.
Then he kissed her.
