“I don’t understand,” I said, shaking my head. “How are you in my bedroom?”

“Your mind created your childhood bedroom because it’s where you always felt safest,” she explained, a soft chuckle in her voice.

I frowned and looked down at my body.

“So… I’m not really here?” I asked.

She nodded.

“That’s right,” she said. “You’re asleep at Eliza’s clinic—safe and sound. Just like your baby and your mate.”

Relief rushed through me so strongly that my knees nearly gave out. I ended up falling backward onto the bed, not realizing how close I already was.

The Goddess moved farther into the room until she stood near the bed. Her gaze was gentle, her expression serene.

“You are one of my most special children, Judy,” she said. “Being the Host of Magic is a great honor. By now, I’m sure you’ve felt the connection you share with your power.”

I stared at my hands, flexing my fingers as if expecting something extraordinary to happen.

“It listens to me,” I murmured, almost to myself. “I was told magic has a mind of its own and that it needs to be trained properly. But it does what I ask.”

“That’s because it recognizes you as its host,” she replied. “For magic to awaken fully, you must earn its trust and respect—and you already have. Now, all that remains is to deepen your bond with it.”

“How do I do that?” I asked.

“By continuing to use it,” she said gently. “Trust your magic, and it will trust you in return. I’m here only to reassure you—there is nothing more you need to do. You are a powerful she-wolf and a future Luna. Those who doubt you will soon understand that you are meant to lead.”

“You have a lot of faith in me,” I said, letting out a breathy laugh.

Her smile softened further as she reached for me. I watched her hand, and when it rested on my shoulder, warmth spread through my entire body.

“You must have faith in yourself, Judy Montague,” she said. “Just as your family and friends do… just as your magic does… and just as your son does.”

“My son…” I whispered, resting my hand on my flat stomach.

She nodded.

“You have a beautiful baby boy who will need his mother to be strong. You believe you lack Luna training, but that isn’t true. I’ve watched you since the day you were born. You have more than enough experience—you’ve been training your entire life for this moment. There is no better Luna. One day, you’ll see that yourself. You have my word. Until then, trust the abilities you already possess.”

Tears blurred my vision before I could stop them.

“I’m scared,” I admitted quietly. “I’m scared I won’t be enough.”

In that moment, I realized the truth.

The Goddess hadn’t summoned me.

I had summoned her.

“Oh, my darling,” she said softly.

She stood and gestured toward the bed.

Without thinking, I slid beneath the covers and curled into the familiar comfort of my childhood bed, breathing in the scents that had always made me feel safe.

I felt the mattress shift as the Moon Goddess rose and moved toward the door.
