Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 905
He was a complete asshole and didn’t deserve a second of my attention.
“I wouldn’t want to be your sister anyway,” I said through clenched teeth, narrowing my eyes at Noah. “Being your sister sounds miserable. I’d much rather be a Montague than a Blackwell. But that’s not the point. What matters is this—Lila is not going to be the Luna of Gavin’s territory. As his mate, that title belongs to me.”
“We deserve a stronger choice!” someone shouted.
I didn’t need to look to know it was Olivia. “You’re not fit to be a Luna. You have no training and you’ll lead this pack straight into the ground. Lila has already done so much for us—she deserves our support!”
A cheer rippled through the crowd.
That strange sensation surged inside me again, stronger than before. It pressed against my chest, urged me forward, guided my words as if they no longer belonged solely to me.
“She can’t protect you the way I can,” I said, the words spilling out before I could stop them. But once they were spoken, I knew they were true. I might not have years of Luna training, but I had years of Gamma training. I knew how to fight. I knew how to protect. “I’m a fighter. I can protect all of you. You just need to trust me.”
“Then prove it,” Olivia sneered.
“Prove it how?”
“A fight,” she said, grinning. “A fight to the death.”
“Over my dead body,” Gavin growled as he stepped in front of me. “My mate is pregnant. She can’t shift or fight.”
“See?” Olivia scoffed, rolling her eyes as her friends snickered. “A real Luna wouldn’t let pregnancy stop her from protecting the pack. This just proves Lila is the better choice.”
“I don’t need to shift to fight,” I said, stepping around Gavin so they could all see me. “I’ll fight her anytime, anywhere. Nothing will ever stop me from protecting this pack—or my family.”
“Judy, absolutely not,” Gavin said sharply, grabbing my arm. “You’re pregnant. I won’t allow it.”
“Both the baby and I are strong,” I whispered, keeping my voice low so only he could hear me. “I know this is hard for you to understand, but something inside me is telling me I have to do this.”
He shook his head, his eyes filled with worry. “You’re in way over your head. I don’t want my mate fighting a death match—especially while she’s carrying my pup. I don’t doubt you could win, but it’s too risky.”
I held his gaze for a moment longer. Nan and Irene stared at me, wide-eyed, silently begging me to refuse.
They were right. The smart choice was to walk away. Fighting while heavily pregnant was reckless.
But that wasn’t what happened.
“Trust us,” the magic whispered, swirling through my body.
That was all the reassurance I needed.
I turned back toward the stage, locking eyes with Lila.
“You have yourself a challenge,” I said, ignoring Gavin’s glare and the sharp breath Nan sucked in beside me. “Tomorrow. Sundown.”
A slow, satisfied smile spread across Lila’s face.
“May the better Luna win.”
