Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 898
“I’m so sorry, Judy,” my mom said before I could even speak. “I should have told you the truth. Keeping it from you wasn’t right. But more than that, I shouldn’t have let Meg convince me to look the other way when you were switched at birth. We never fully understood what happened, but Meg could sense the magic that still clung to you, even after they took your powers. We knew it was selfish, but we wanted to keep you safe. To Meg, you might have been a decoy, but to us… you’ve always been our daughter. We would never trade you for anything.”
Tears blurred my vision as I wrapped my arms around her.
“I love you, Mom,” I whispered. “I’m sorry for doubting you… I just hated the idea of being used as a decoy to hide another baby… one you were trying to protect. At the expense of another family.”
She hugged me tighter, holding me close.
“Oh, sweetie, I know how it must look. I’ve never truly forgiven myself for taking a daughter away from her mother. But your father and I never thought of you as a decoy, despite everything. You’ll always be our daughter, no matter what. I don’t care if you’re a Blackwell, a Churchill, or a Landry… you’ll always be a Montague.” She pressed a gentle kiss to the side of my face. “Don’t ever forget that.”
I hugged her tighter, feeling her warmth seep into me.
“I never will,” I assured her. I pulled away, wiping the tears from my cheeks and forcing a smile. “I have to go… I’ve got a pack to win over.”
My mother squeezed my hand firmly.
“Judy, you’re going to be an amazing Luna. Soon, the pack will see that too,” she said, a small smile forming. “And if you can’t win them this time, there’s always next time. You already have so many allies. You don’t need to worry about a thing. It’ll work out.”
Her words swelled my heart with confidence. Like Nan earlier, I believed her. I felt ready to face this party.
I hugged my mother one last time and headed downstairs to join Nan, Irene, and Gavin.
Nan and Irene had plus-one invitations, which is why they were attending with Gavin and me. Neither of us was actually invited to Lila’s party—shocker.
“Ready to go?” Nan asked.
“As ready as we’ll ever be,” Irene said, matching my nervous excitement.
We left my parents’ home and got into the back of the limo. Erik was driving, and Irene tensed beside me the moment she saw him. I glanced at her, concern prickling at my chest, but she didn’t meet my eyes, her cheeks flushed as she stared down at her hands. I made a mental note to talk to her later.
When we arrived at the party, my heart hammered harder than ever. The crowd was massive, most faces familiar from the pack. Erik pulled the limo to the front and parked.
“Anything else you need from me, Alpha?” he asked, glancing at Gavin through the rear-view mirror.
“Stay with the limo and keep your phone handy. I’ll text you when it’s time to leave,” Gavin replied.
Erik nodded, stepping out to open our doors. Gavin took my hand and helped me out. Nan and Irene followed, looking radiant in their dresses, hair perfectly done. Irene had styled both our hair, so none of us felt out of place.
Just as we were about to merge with the crowd, Gavin’s phone buzzed. He glanced down, frowning, furrowing his brows.
“It’s Zachary Blackwell,” he sighed. “I need to take this.”
I nodded.
“We’ll be fine. Meet up with us after.”
“Are you sure?” he asked, concern in his voice.
“Of course,” I said confidently. “It’ll be fine. I promise.”
He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine.
“I love you,” he murmured softly.
Before I could respond, he pulled back and answered the call, moving to a quieter corner.
I turned to Irene and Nan and whispered, “And then there were three.”
Together, we wove through the crowd toward the main entrance and waited in line.
Once we reached the front, a bouncer narrowed his eyes at us.
“Names?”
“Judy Montague,” I said firmly.
He scanned the list, frowning.
“You’re not on the list. You can’t enter without it.”
If you want, I can continue from here, heightening the tension as Judy and her friends confront the door, sneak in, and deal with Lila’s social ambush—keeping the suspense and stakes high.
Do you want me to do that next?
