Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 894

“It turns out… I was switched at birth,” I said quietly. “My real family is the Blackwells, and apparently I’m the heiress who inherited all this magic. I know it sounds unbelievable, but—”

My mother’s sob cut me off.

I turned to her in alarm. Her face had gone deathly pale, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“I’m so sorry,” she cried, wiping at her face.

    “Shelly…” my father started softly.

She shot him a look that silenced him instantly.

“She deserves to know, Richard,” my mother said firmly.

My entire body went rigid. They were hiding something from me. I could feel it, and the realization made my chest feel like it was going to cave in.

    My father exhaled slowly.
“I know,” he said at last, after a long pause. “I just… hoped we’d have a little more time.”

    “Me too,” my mother whispered.

“What is going on?” I demanded, staring between them, my heart pounding in my ears. “You’re keeping something from me?”

“Before we tell you,” my father said gently, reaching for my hand, “you need to know that we love you more than anything. Everything we did was to protect you. We never wanted to lie to you.”

“But we knew that if you learned the truth,” my mother said through tears, “you’d want answers. And those answers would lead you into things far bigger and more dangerous than you should ever have to face.”

“We wanted you to live a simple, happy life,” she continued. “We never wanted the weight of the world on your shoulders. That wouldn’t have been fair to you. I’m so sorry we didn’t tell you sooner, sweetheart.”

My heart dropped straight into my stomach.

“Wait,” I said slowly, dread spreading through me. “Are you saying… you knew?”

    They both nodded.

“Yes,” my father said quietly. “We knew. And we’re so sorry.”

I shook my head and stood up abruptly, needing space, needing air.

“What exactly do you know?” I asked, my voice tight.

“When you were born, we held you in our arms,” my mother said shakily. “Then they took you away. An hour later, they brought you back… but you weren’t the same baby.”

“I mean—you were you,” my father added carefully. “But you weren’t the baby we first held.”

“You weren’t the baby we gave birth to,” my mother said softly, standing as well.

“And you didn’t say anything?” I asked, disbelief lacing every word. “Why?”

“Megan believed it was safer that way,” my mother replied. “She wanted her child hidden—far away from her family. She thought that if her baby was raised by people with no connection to that world, she’d be protected.”

    I stared at them.
“So what?” I asked bitterly. “I was a decoy?”

    My mother gasped sharply.

“No,” she said quickly. “Never. We never thought of you that way. We love you, Judy. You were ours in every way that mattered. We planned to tell you the truth when you were older. We didn’t even know you were a Blackwell, or that magic was involved, at first.”

    My breath hitched.
“Wait. You knew about the magic too?”

“Yes,” my father admitted, standing beside my mother. “We were informed years later. And once we knew, we agreed we had to protect you at all costs. If you never knew, the magic wouldn’t awaken. You’d stay safe.”

Pain burned behind my eyes as I stepped back from them.

“So you hid something this huge from me because you were scared?” I asked, tears blurring my vision. “And you thought that made it okay?”

“Of course not,” my mother said, stepping toward me desperately. “This is coming out wrong—”

“You do realize this sounds like you kidnapped me and erased my identity for years, right?” I snapped, my voice sharp with hurt.

My mother looked like I’d struck her. My father’s face flushed red.

    “Judy—”

“I think I’ve heard enough,” I said coldly. “If you’ll excuse me.”

I turned and stormed out of the room, leaving them standing there in stunned silence.
