Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 891
I felt sick to my stomach as the plane began its descent. It meant we were almost home.
Nan had called just before takeoff from Jeremy’s territory to tell me that a large group of protesters had gathered outside the villa, led by Olivia and some of her friends.
The thought of them protesting me made my stomach twist into knots. Matt and Irene were at the villa too, meaning they were forced to deal with the chaos. The last thing I wanted was for any of this to spill over and affect Gavin and his family.
Gavin reached over and took my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.
“Don’t overthink it,” he said softly. “We’ll figure this out.”
“They’re protesting me in front of your home, Gavin. That’s not okay,” I said, hating that tears were already pooling in my eyes.
He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into him, practically settling me onto his lap.
“It’s your home too,” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the nape of my neck and sending a shiver through my body. “And if they’re disrespecting you, then they’re disrespecting me as well. And that’s not okay with me.”
I nestled into him, comforted by how protective he was, even as guilt weighed heavily on my chest.
“If I were better…” I started, but he silenced me by pressing his lips to mine.
“You are perfect,” he whispered against my mouth. “I don’t want you thinking otherwise. Got it?”
I nodded, though the knot in my stomach only tightened. I was terrified of what awaited us. I had no idea how we were supposed to handle this.
When we finally landed, the gammas kept us on the plane while they secured the area and deemed it safe. Taylor then met us with a car, and we slipped inside without being detected. I hated having to hide like this—and even more, I hated forcing Gavin to hide with me.
Still, he stayed glued to my side like a personal bodyguard, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like having him so close.
I leaned against him, his arms locked around me like a vice, as if he were afraid I might disappear at any moment.
Taylor slid into the driver’s seat and exhaled as he met Gavin’s eyes in the rearview mirror.
“It’s a large crowd,” he warned, his expression tense. “Mostly women.”
“Olivia is leading it?” Gavin asked.
Taylor sighed.
“She was,” he said. “But now Lila’s there. Looks like she’s taken over.”
“What?” I sat up straight. “Lila is there?”
He nodded and pulled the car into motion.
“I don’t think it’s safe for you to stay at the villa,” Taylor continued. “I contacted the Montagues, and they agreed to take you in for a few days while we sort this out. Get the pack back in order.”
“I’m not letting my future Luna stay anywhere without me,” Gavin said firmly, tightening his hold on me. “If she goes, we go.”
“I don’t want to make you do that,” I said, shaking my head.
“We’re a team now,” he replied, resting a hand over my growing belly. “We’re a family. We go together—as a family. Irene and Matt would agree.”
“I still need to break Irene’s curse so she can find her true mate,” I said, tears spilling over. “I can’t deal with all these distractions.”
Damn pregnancy hormones. They made everything hit harder, made it impossible to stop crying, and made the pain cut deeper than I wanted to admit.
Gavin read me perfectly, as always. He pressed his lips to my cheek and held me close, letting me feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
It calmed both me and my wolf. She wanted nothing more than to burrow into him and make a home there. He was my home. My safe place. And in that moment, I knew he was right. I couldn’t spend even a few nights away. I needed to be with him and his family, or I’d never be able to handle any of this.
When we reached the villa, my breath caught in my throat.
Wolves crowded the gates—far more than I’d expected. Taylor hadn’t exaggerated. It looked like at least half the pack was there, most of them women. A few stood at the front with megaphones, while many others held signs filled with hateful words about me.
My heart shattered at the sight, and fresh tears burned my eyes. Thankfully, the car’s windows were tinted, hiding me from view. But they weren’t fools. They knew I was inside—and they knew Gavin was with me.
