Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 889
Erik completely lost control—and honestly, I couldn’t blame him. If he hadn’t reached Chuck first, I would have. I was seconds away from throwing a punch myself.
Chuck growled as soon as he realized his nose was broken. The situation was turning dangerous, just as I’d feared. I spun around toward Judy, locking eyes with the warrior closest to her. I didn’t need to say a word. He nodded and stepped in front of her, putting himself between Judy and whatever came next.
I turned back to the fight.
Erik had the upper hand—and I had to admit, I felt a surge of pride. Chuck was big. Bigger wolf, more years of training, higher rank. On paper, Erik shouldn’t have stood a chance. Yet he was dismantling Chuck like it was nothing.
I made a mental note to reevaluate Erik’s position once this was over.
The more I watched, the more another thought crept in—maybe Erik wouldn’t be such a bad mate for my daughter after all. At the very least, I knew she’d be protected. And she deserved someone decent. Someone like him.
That said… it was clear Erik had a temper. A dangerous edge.
I won’t lie—I didn’t pull him off Chuck as quickly as I probably should have. I let him land a few more blows before stepping in.
I grabbed Erik and yanked him back just as Chuck started to shift. Chuck was a mess—bloodied, scratched, snarling, eyes blazing. His body trembled with barely restrained transformation.
“Stop!” Judy shouted.
I turned toward her.
Her arm was outstretched, finger pointed straight at Chuck. The gamma in front of her stood frozen, eyes wide, as Judy stepped past him. Her cheeks were flushed, her gaze wild—focused.
But that wasn’t the shocking part.
She was glowing.
It was the same glow I’d seen back at the packhouse—but stronger. Her eyes burned brighter, and through the haze of light, I saw it: the faint outline of a wolf forming around her.
My mouth fell open.
I’d never seen her like this before. I couldn’t look away. My wolf stirred, practically panting at the sight of his mate in all her power.
Judy’s eyes never left Chuck.
When I looked back at him, he’d stopped mid-shift.
Stopping a shift halfway was nearly impossible—and the pain was written all over his face. His eyes glowed yellow. His teeth were elongated. Fur sprouted unevenly across his skin, bones half-set, half-broken.
I glanced at Judy again. Her hand trembled slightly, but she didn’t lower it. I could almost hear her heart racing. She looked calm, composed—but I knew better. She was terrified of messing this up.
“Why can’t I finish shifting?” Chuck snarled through clenched teeth.
Judy stepped forward. As if responding to her presence, the gammas moved aside, clearing a path. She looked confident—radiant, even—and Chuck flinched as she approached, suddenly unsure, suddenly small.
The corner of my mouth lifted. Right now, he looked like a scared child about to be reprimanded.
“What are you doing?” Chuck snapped. “Stay away from me.”
She ignored him and raised her other hand, her eyes never leaving his face.
“Make him shift back to human,” Judy said.
For a heartbeat, I wondered who she was speaking to.
Then I saw it.
Tendrils of magic spiraled around her, alive, responsive—answering to her alone. A gentle wind stirred, lifting her hair as orbs of glowing light burst from her body and shot straight toward Chuck.
He let out a panicked yelp as the orbs circled him—then a howl of pain as his body was forced fully back into human form.
“What the hell?” Chuck gasped. “How is that possible?”
The orbs drifted back to Judy, dancing around her briefly before sinking into her chest. Her glow flared once more—then faded.
She staggered back a step, staring down at her hands, disbelief etched across her face.
And just like that, the light vanished.
She was Judy again.
