Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 887

    Judy’s POV

“I’m just saying, I think you should stay at the packhouse while I deal with Chuck. It would be safer for you here,” Gavin said, his muscles on full display and making my eyes shamefully wander.

It was the next morning, and neither of us had slept well. A strange urgency churned inside me, keeping me awake all night. Gavin was in the middle of getting dressed when he told me he didn’t think I should go.

Jeremy had told us where Chuck was stationed this morning, and he would reach that post in about an hour. The rest of the warriors were probably finishing getting dressed by now, gathering in the packhouse dining hall for breakfast.

I felt a pull to go. I needed to get what we came here for and return to our territory. My wolf was uneasy being outside her land. It was strange how she already thought of it as hers.

“You’re going to need me there. I won’t let you go without me, Gavin.”

“We don’t know how he’s going to react when we try to take him—or even talk to him,” Gavin warned. “If he tries to hurt you, I can’t guarantee I won’t kill him.”

I smiled as I stepped closer to him.

“If he comes anywhere near me, there’s no guarantee I won’t kill him first,” I said. “I’m not helpless, Gavin. I came here because something inside me is telling me I need to be here. It’s pushing me to act, and I can’t ignore it. I need you on my team.”

“You know I’m always on your team—”

“Then prove it,” I cut in. “Let me come with you to get Chuck.”

He stared at me for a moment, the corner of his lips twitching.

“I know what you’re doing,” he said, amusement and affection intertwined in his eyes.

    I smiled.
    “Is it working?”

He laughed—my favorite sound. My heart skipped as he stepped closer.

“Yes,” he said at last, his voice low. “It’s working.”

I lifted my head to meet his eyes as he closed the distance, leaving almost no space between us. He reached up, tucking a strand of hair back, his fingers brushing my cheekbone and sending a shiver through me.

“Good,” I said, brushing my lips along his jaw. “I guess it’s a good thing you know who you’re marrying.”

“I do know who I’m marrying,” he said, “and I can’t wait to make you my bride and Luna.” Then he closed the space between our lips. His kiss stole my breath and ended far too quickly, leaving me needy. “But if we’re doing this, we need to leave now. We can’t waste any more time.”

“I’ll get dressed fast,” I promised, rushing to grab my clothes.

Within five minutes, I was ready. Then we met the gammas in the dining hall.

It was early, so everyone looked tired. But Erik looked like he hadn’t slept in days. Dark circles shadowed his eyes, and he looked like he’d aged fifty years overnight.

On any other day, I would have given him space. But today, I needed him sharp if this plan was going to work. We couldn’t afford any major mistakes. I reminded myself that I had a gamma’s training and needed to speak to him on that level.

“Are you going to be okay today?” I asked as I sat beside Erik.

“Of course,” he replied without hesitation, not even looking at me as he dumped sugar into his black coffee.

Ugh. I missed being able to drink caffeinated coffee. What I wouldn’t give for a cup right now…

I shook the thought away and studied Erik. He still hadn’t looked up, clearly lost in his own head.

“Erik,” I said, trying to get his attention.

When he didn’t respond, I said his name again, firmer this time. A few others glanced our way.

Gavin sat down beside me with a tray of food—some of my favorites—and set it in front of me.

Only then did Erik finally look up, meeting my eyes as I said his name for the second time.
