Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 886
I smiled up at him and leaned even closer.
“It was probably for the best that she didn’t come,” I said softly. “If she’s still in contact with him, it means she’s holding onto hope that he’ll come back. He’s keeping her on a string, and she’ll do whatever he wants.”
I shuddered at the thought.
“Over my dead body,” Gavin growled. “I’m not letting that asshole have my daughter.”
“And that’s why I love you,” I said, leaning in to kiss his cheek.
His brows knit together as he looked down at me.
“Because I refuse to let Chuck win?” he asked.
I let out a quiet laugh.
“No,” I said. “Because you’re an amazing man—and an even more amazing father.”
He kissed me, and I melted into it completely.
“When this is over,” he said softly, “once Irene’s curse is broken and she’s finally free of that jerk, I want us to get married.”
I blinked.
“Our wedding is in a couple of months,” I reminded him.
He nodded, pulling me closer until I was practically sitting in his lap.
“I know,” he said, pressing his lips to the side of my head. “But I want it sooner. I want to move the wedding up.”
My heart skipped.
The idea of marrying him sooner sent a rush of excitement through me, and my wolf was practically purring at the thought. Still, fear lingered beneath it all. Becoming the Luna of the largest and strongest pack in the world terrified me.
Olivia and her friends were still protesting against me, and Lila was still actively trying to undermine me. She flaunted her Blackwell status at every opportunity, even though she wasn’t truly a Blackwell.
“What’s wrong?” Gavin asked, his smile fading slightly. “You do still want to marry me, right?”
“Of course I do,” I said immediately, turning fully toward him so he could see how serious I was. “I want to marry you more than anything in this world.”
His expression softened as he tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
“Good,” he said quietly. “Are you worried about the protests or the media? If that’s it, don’t be. I’ve handled it. No one is allowed to publish reports about you anymore. I won’t let them tear you down like that again.”
“Thank you,” I said softly, comforted by the certainty in his voice.
Just as he was about to speak again, the pilot’s voice came over the intercom, informing us that we would be landing shortly. I buckled my seatbelt and sat upright as the plane began its descent.
Once we landed and the plane was parked in its usual terminal within the private section of the airport, I unbuckled my belt and stood. Gavin retrieved our belongings from the overhead compartment. We had packed light, since we only planned to stay until tomorrow.
Alpha Jeremy was already aware of our arrival and the reason for our visit. After we explained everything, he agreed to help us.
His Beta met us at the airport and drove us straight to the packhouse, where we would be staying for the night. Alpha Jeremy himself greeted us there.
“Alpha Landry,” Jeremy said, extending his hand. “I have to admit, I was surprised when you reached out this morning. I didn’t expect to see you again so soon.”
“I apologize for the intrusion,” Gavin replied, shaking his hand. “But I’m sure you understand how serious this situation is.”
Jeremy nodded. “I do. And I owe you an apology as well. I had no idea Chuck placed a Siren’s curse on your daughter. He’s been one of my most trusted Gammas, which is why I nominated him for the Gamma competition. It would be a shame for him to lose his life.”
“I’m not here to kill him,” Gavin said evenly. “I won’t take the life of one of your pack members. But his actions won’t go unpunished. As I explained earlier, he needs to return to my territory with me tonight so we can break the curse.”
“Yes,” Jeremy said. “You did mention that. Do what you must. If punishment is necessary, I’d like to be informed.”
“You have my word,” Gavin said with a nod.
“It won’t be easy to convince him,” Alpha Jeremy warned. “I’ll instruct my warriors not to interfere, but there’s a chance you may need to use force.”
