Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 883

The ride back to the villa was quiet.

Nan and I sat in the backseat while Erik drove. The others had gone home in their own cars, and I had no idea where Irene went. She didn’t come with us, and she wasn’t answering her phone. She disappeared almost immediately after Erik showed up.

Erik hadn’t said a word since we left the packhouse. His grip on the steering wheel had gone white-knuckled. I knew he was hurting after Irene brushed him off, and it made my chest ache for him.

“I’m just going to call Chester really quick,” Nan said, pulling out her phone.

I probably should’ve suggested dropping her off at home instead of bringing her to the villa. She hadn’t seen Chester or her daughter all day. But selfishly, I didn’t want to be alone right now. I needed to process everything—and I needed my best friend with me while I did.

As Nan talked quietly on the phone, I leaned forward slightly, bringing myself closer to Erik.

“How are you holding up?” I asked.

He glanced at me through the rearview mirror.

“How do you think?” he shot back, his eyes narrowing. I’d never seen him this agitated before, and it made my chest tighten. “My mate wants nothing to do with me.”

“She doesn’t know she’s your mate,” I said gently. “Once Chuck’s curse is broken, she’ll be yours.”

    He exhaled sharply.

“If that curse ever gets broken,” he muttered. “It feels like it’s only getting worse.”

My brows knit together. “What do you mean?”

He was quiet for a moment, and I thought he might shut down completely.

“I went to see her a few days ago,” he finally said. “I thought maybe she’d had enough time to process things. I thought we could talk. But I just made it worse. She cried and told me to stay away from her. She said the only person she’ll ever love is her fated mate—Chuck.” His jaw tightened. “A couple of weeks ago, she said she hated him and never wanted to see him again. Now she says she still loves him. That she’ll only ever love him. I don’t understand it. The curse doesn’t feel any weaker than the day he cast it.”

    I blinked, stunned.

Irene almost never talked about Chuck. When we found out he’d been cheating, she was devastated and wanted nothing to do with him. I knew going completely no-contact would be hard, but this…

This wasn’t how it was supposed to work.

That’s when Esme’s words came back to me—about knowing how to break the curse. The problem was that Chuck had to return to the place where he cast it.

    The mansion.

    In the Silver Crescent Pack.

And I was going to need Cora’s help—there was no way I could do this alone.

“I think I might be able to break the curse on Irene,” I said suddenly.

Erik’s eyes snapped up in the mirror, wider now. “What are you talking about?”

“Esme knows how to break a siren’s curse,” I said. “But Chuck has to come back to the Silver Crescent Pack.”

“Hold on,” Nan said into the phone. “Chester, give me a second.” She lowered it and turned to me. “What do you mean Chuck has to come here? That’s the last thing Irene needs.”

“I know,” I said. “But it’s the only way.”

“How do we know that?” she asked, raising a brow.

    “Because Esme told me.”

Nan frowned. “And we’re trusting Esme? The woman who couldn’t speak for years and now won’t stop talking?”

    Something stirred deep inside me.

    “Yes,” I said without hesitation.

The moment the word left my mouth, I knew it was true. I trusted Esme. I didn’t know how, but I did. And somehow… the magic inside me trusted her too.

“I need to get Chuck and bring him here,” I said firmly. “It’s the only way.”

Nan let out a slow sigh.

“And how exactly do you plan on doing that?” she asked. “He’s in Alpha Jeremy’s territory. We can’t just stroll in and take him.”

“Maybe we can,” I said, glancing at Erik. “But it would mean another trip—with a completely different plan.”

“Alpha Gavin would never let you step foot in that pack without him,” Erik warned.

“He’s right,” Nan added, worry filling her eyes. “You’re pregnant. This is already a delicate situation. A trip like that could be dangerous—for you and the baby.”

“Do you hear yourselves?” I asked, looking between them. We were almost at the villa, and I was nowhere near finished with this conversation. “This is Irene we’re talking about. If there’s a chance I can help her, why wouldn’t I take it?”

“Because going into another Lycan Chairman’s territory and interfering with one of his pack members—especially one of his Gammas—is grounds for war,” Nan said seriously. “It’s dangerous, Judy. I think we need to stop and rethink this before rushing into something we can’t undo.”
