Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 879
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Gavin asked, his eyes locked on my face as I stared out at the pack.
“Of course she’s sure. She needs to show them who’s boss,” Irene said, folding her arms across her chest. Then, softer—just for me—she added, “Keep your head held high. Don’t let them see your weakness.”
I looked up at Gavin.
“I can do this,” I said, proud that my voice didn’t shake. “I need you to trust me.”
“I trust you,” he replied, his voice dropping to a low whisper. “But I don’t trust them. I’m blindsided that my entire pack is boycotting my mate—and that you’re trending all over the media. Did you know this was happening?”
I bit my lower lip.
“I had a feeling,” I admitted quietly. I didn’t want to lie to him.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I knew you’d be upset,” I said, my gaze dropping to the ground, “and I didn’t want you to feel like you had to choose between your pack and me.”
Gavin hooked two fingers under my chin and lifted my face until I was looking straight into his eyes. The sincerity there—the love—made my heart skip.
“You are my mate. My family,” he said firmly. “I will always choose my family over duty. You and my children are my priority. Always. Don’t ever doubt that. I love you, and we are in this together.”
My chest swelled, and I leaned closer to him despite myself.
“This is all very cute,” Irene whispered sharply from beside us, “but everyone is watching. And remember what I told you about image.”
She was right.
If I wanted to be their Luna, I had to look like one. I had to believe I belonged here—more than any of them.
I turned to face the crowd, straightening my spine and lifting my chin just like Irene did. I forced myself to stand tall, as if I owned the ground beneath my feet.
A strange surge rushed through me. My wolf stirred, powerful and restless, and before I fully realized it, I was moving forward.
The closer I got to the front, the heavier the air became. Eyes followed me. Breaths hitched. A few people visibly stiffened as I passed.
I didn’t look at anyone. My focus was locked on Olivia.
“Don’t come any closer,” she snapped, pointing at me. “I don’t trust you. No one here should trust you. You’re a cheater and a liar.”
“You’re speaking nonsense,” I replied calmly. “You’re creating chaos out of nothing. There is no evidence that I cheated, and once that’s proven, you’ll look foolish.”
She blinked, clearly not expecting that.
“But there is proof,” she shot back, crossing her arms with a smug smile. “Photos. Text messages. We had someone hack your phones. We have proof you were in a relationship long before the competition.”
A wave of violation rolled through me.
We.
Who the hell was we?
“That’s a serious invasion of my privacy,” I said evenly. “And it carries criminal charges. You do understand that, don’t you?”
She stared at me, unimpressed.
“Of course I do,” she scoffed. “But it doesn’t matter. The receipts don’t lie.”
I stepped closer and held out my hand.
“May I?” I asked, gesturing to the megaphone.
She hesitated, glanced at the crowd, then let out an awkward laugh before shoving it into my hand.
“Fine,” she said with a shrug. “It’s not like it matters. Everyone’s against you anyway.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat and turned to face the pack.
My eyes found Gavin immediately. He stood with Irene and Matt, all three of them watching me with unwavering belief. Gavin gave me a small nod—and a wink.
It steadied me.
I took a deep breath.
“I didn’t come here to fight,” I said honestly. “And I didn’t come here to beg.”
The silence was suffocating.
“I came here because—whether you like it or not—you are my pack,” I continued, my voice thick with emotion I refused to hide. “And you might be right. I wasn’t raised for this role. I wasn’t groomed for it. I didn’t grow up believing I’d stand here one day.”
