Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 878
“What gives you the right to speak about my mate like that?” Gavin growled. “I could have you gutted for disrespecting her.”
“Not when I have the entire world on my side,” Olivia shot back, folding her arms across her chest.
She gestured toward the people holding up their phones, livestreaming everything. Heat rushed to my face. Irene immediately straightened her posture and lifted her chin, and I forced myself to mirror her. Before we arrived, she’d told me to copy her body language—we hadn’t had time to prepare properly.
She still didn’t fully understand why I insisted on coming, but I knew I couldn’t let Gavin fight this alone. If he found out I already knew about the protest and said nothing, it would only reinforce their belief that I wasn’t strong enough to stand beside him as Luna.
I felt Matt squeeze my hand. When I looked down at him, he smiled and gave me a small nod. In that moment, I knew—without question—that I had someone who believed in me. And I needed to start believing in myself, too.
As I watched Gavin arguing with Olivia, trying to piece together what she was accusing us of, and then glanced at Irene—still poised, still composed, never letting the cameras see her crack—I realized something.
I wasn’t alone.
I had a family.
“Taylor, find out how those photos were leaked and who submitted the article,” Gavin said sharply into his phone. I hadn’t even realized he’d called Taylor. “I want the articles taken down immediately. And whoever sent in those tips—I want them prosecuted at Silver Crescent Prison. I’ll deal with them personally.”
He hung up and turned to the crowd.
“A few photos are not proof that Judy cheated during the competition,” Gavin said firmly, shaking his head. “The other Lycans were well aware of my feelings toward her by the end. Judy and I knew each other long before the competition. She was a member of my pack then, and she still is now. She’s been my son’s tutor for almost three years. She has always been exceptionally talented—I recognized that the moment I met her.”
He paused, letting his words sink in.
“The only reason I even attended this year’s Gamma Competition was to support her. I did not vote for Judy. The other chairmen did. She won fair and square. Once the unedited footage is reviewed, the entire world will see that Judy did not cheat—and that her victory was earned.”
Silence fell over the grounds so completely it felt unreal. You could’ve heard a pin drop in the grass.
Olivia looked pale, her eyes wide.
“Alpha,” she stammered, “are you admitting that you and Judy Montague had relations before the competition?”
“I’m admitting that I had strong feelings for Miss Montague before the competition,” Gavin replied coldly. “That is exactly why I refused to vote for her. I did everything in my power to avoid bias because I knew how much this meant to her. If this slander continues, every single one of you involved will be prosecuted.”
They stared at him as if he’d just told them a ghost story.
My heart lurched painfully in my chest. I loved him for this—loved how fiercely he stood up for me—but I couldn’t let him carry this alone. If I wanted their respect, if I wanted them to accept me as their Luna, I had to step forward myself.
I had to prove I was worthy of the role.
I moved ahead, pressing my hand gently against Gavin’s shoulder blade to get his attention.
“Let me speak for myself,” I said.
His brows lifted slightly. “Are you sure?” he asked quietly, just for me.
I looked up at him and released a breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding.
“Yes,” I said firmly. “I think it’s time the pack heard from their Luna.”
