Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 875
I didn’t speak right away.
The words investigation and cheated echoed in my head, sounding foreign—like Irene had said them to the wrong person. My hands felt cold despite the warmth of the room.
“I don’t understand,” I said, shaking my head as I tried to make sense of it.
As if she knew I needed proof, she turned her phone toward me. I’d been off the grid most of the day and night—dealing with Megan, then visiting Levi at the prison. My mom had called earlier, but I’d turned my phone off after texting her back. I hadn’t turned it on since.
Now I dreaded what would happen when I did.
My head spun as I stared at the screen, disbelief washing over me. There it was—a photo of Gavin and me kissing at the competition.
Judy Montague and Gavin Landry’s Relationship: Bias During the Gamma Competition?
“Even though you didn’t announce your relationship until after the competition,” Irene continued, “they’re claiming there’s new evidence proving you were involved before that. Which means my father was biased during the trials.”
“But I didn’t cheat,” I said, shaking my head. “You know that, right?”
“Of course I do,” she replied immediately. “But what I think doesn’t matter. People will say I’m biased too. This isn’t about us—it’s about public perception. And now there’s an open investigation.”
I shook my head again, still struggling to accept it.
“Gavin is the most powerful Lycan Chairman,” I said. “There’s no way they’d go after him like this. An investigation into a Landry is basically suicide.”
“Not this time,” Irene said quietly. “This goes beyond my father. It involves all the chairmen, the council—everyone with rank. This could turn into one of those world-voting situations Daddy always talked about.”
My heart dropped.
She was right. I’d learned about world voting at the academy. It had only ever happened once. The thought of it happening again—because of me—sat in my stomach like lead.
That meant the entire world would review publicized evidence of my actions. Then there’d be a voting period. And once the votes were in, the result would be final—whether I was actually guilty or not.
I could lose everything. My status. My reputation.
Olivia would get exactly what she wanted. The pack would never accept me as Luna after that. And if the pack rejected me as a whole, Gavin would be forced to reject me too. A Lycan Chairman couldn’t keep a Luna the pack refused to follow—they’d walk all over her.
My legs nearly gave out. I leaned against the wall, my breathing suddenly shallow, my heart pounding wildly.
Irene was at my side instantly, wrapping an arm around me. Worry filled her eyes.
“I didn’t mean to upset you,” she said softly. “I’m sorry. But you needed to know. If you go anywhere right now, people will talk. It’s only been a day, but the rumors have spread like wildfire.”
I nodded, grateful for the warning even as nausea twisted in my stomach.
I exhaled slowly and rubbed my hand over my belly without realizing it. The baby shifted faintly—a quiet reminder to stay standing.
“So what am I supposed to do now?” I asked.
Irene smirked, a hint of her usual self returning.
She crossed her arms and studied me closely, stepping back to really assess me. I shifted uncomfortably under her gaze.
“First,” she said, “we need to do something about your wardrobe.”
I glanced down at my hoodie and yoga pants. “What’s wrong with them? It was a long drive, and it’s not like I went anywhere important.”
She rolled her eyes.
“That kind of thinking is exactly what got you into this mess. You need to understand that everything matters now. Everything you say. Everything you do. What you wear. What you eat. It all matters in the public eye.”
She met my gaze sharply.
“You’re with my father—a global icon, a powerful businessman, and a Lycan. He lives under constant scrutiny. I was born into that spotlight, so trust me when I say this: I know how this world works.”
Her voice softened slightly, but her words still cut.
“Winning the Gamma competition was your first real taste of fame. It was huge, yes. But after that, you had an image to maintain—and you’ve been tanking it.”
