Gavin cupped my face, forcing my eyes to meet his. Warmth spread from his fingers into my skin, flowing through me like liquid fire, all the way to the tips of my toes.

“You don’t have to prove to anyone that you’ll be a good Luna,” he murmured. “You already are. I’m proud of you. I’ll talk to Olivia. You don’t need to worry about this—let me handle it.”

“No,” I said quickly. “I can handle it… Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal. I want to prove myself.”

He studied my face for a moment longer before leaning down to press his lips to mine.

“I love you,” he whispered.

“I love you too,” I replied, my voice soft.

Not long after, Eliza and Taylor returned, Eliza carrying a small bag. She smiled at me briefly, then turned to Taylor to say goodbye.

“We’ll be back before sunrise,” Gavin said. “But this is important.”

Eliza nodded, understanding.

“Where are we?” I asked.

“We stopped at a gas station,” he said, nodding toward the small building. “Eliza needed the restroom. We’ll be in Yellowstone in about twenty minutes.”

I leaned into him, savoring the closeness.

“This is going to work, right?” I asked softly. “My magic… I’ll be able to control it eventually?”

I wasn’t sure why I asked; I knew he didn’t have the answer. But the way he looked at me, steady and confident, left no room for doubt.

“Yes,” he said, voice firm. “There’s nothing you can’t do, Judy.”

We kissed again, letting our lips and breaths sync, grounding ourselves, our wolves, and our hearts. We pulled apart when Eliza rejoined us in the backseat, and the car rolled on.

Within twenty minutes, we arrived at the Yellowstone hospital. We walked in as if we owned the place, and everyone in the waiting room turned to look, sensing Gavin’s powerful aura.

Some bowed, others simply stared, but Gavin ignored them and went straight to the nurses’ station. “I’m here to see Megan O. Churchill,” he said.

Visiting hours were over, but Gavin wasn’t just anyone—he was the most powerful Lycan Chairman, even in neutral territories. The nurse gave him Megan’s room number: third floor. He took my hand and led me down the hallway to the elevators.
