Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 868

Levi paused, gathering his thoughts. After clearing his throat and taking a slow breath, he continued.

“So naturally, he clashed with my father, who was the Alpha at the time. What started as tension turned into a full-blown rivalry. I was rivals with him long before I ever became rivals with Gavin. It wasn’t until the Blackwells went into hiding that Gavin and I ended up on opposite sides.” He exhaled. “Our families hated each other. We fought back and forth for years. And then, after an incident, the eldest Blackwell woman—Zachary’s mother—put a curse on our entire family.”

My heart stuttered in my chest. Esme Blackwell cursed the Churchills? My stomach twisted. Whatever they had done to provoke that… it must have been unforgivable.

“She bound the Churchill bloodline to Meg,” Levi said quietly. “If she dies, we all die.”

    My mouth fell open.

    “What?” I gasped.

He nodded, rolling his eyes. “She was reckless. Always getting herself into trouble. We spent most of our time trying to keep her in line, but she never stayed put. I was just a kid back then, but I remember my father yelling at her whenever she ran off. He locked her in her room more times than I can count. He was terrified she’d get herself killed—and if that happened—”

“Your entire family would die,” I whispered, understanding slamming into me. “She gave your family an expiration date. No matter what, when Meg dies—even of old age—you all die with her.”

“Exactly,” Levi muttered. “We still don’t know why she chose Meg of all people, but that was her decision. Then Meg fell in love with a rogue boy, and my father lost it. He kept dragging her back to the manor and locking her up, but she always found a way to escape and see him. Eventually, my father had the boy killed. When Meg found out she was pregnant, she ran. I’m sure you already know the rest.”

“And then your family hunted her down,” I whispered, my eyes wide. “Because if she died, your entire bloodline would be wiped out.” My chest felt tight. “That explains everything. Why you treated her the way you did. Why she ran. Why you went after her in the first place. Why she was so terrified…”

I paused, then lifted my gaze to meet his.

    “She doesn’t know.”

    It wasn’t a question.

The corner of Levi’s mouth twitched, like he was fighting a smile.

“No,” he murmured. “She doesn’t. And if she did… she’d probably end her life just to take us with her.” His expression darkened. “That’s the kind of person she was. Unselfish. I hate admitting it, but it’s true. If she believed her death would free the world from us, she wouldn’t hesitate. That’s why we made sure she never found out.”

“You treated her terribly,” I said quietly, shaking my head. “At least, that’s what I’ve heard. She was terrified of all of you.”

“That’s true,” he admitted. “She didn’t have an easy life.”

I fell silent, letting everything sink in. My head was spinning. I opened my mouth to speak again, but the door opened before I could say a word.

    Gavin walked in.

I felt his presence instantly—charged, sharp, dangerous.

“You’ve spent enough time with my mate,” he said coldly. “I can feel her distress. If you said something to upset her—”

“Where is she?” I asked, standing abruptly. My eyes never left Levi.

That same twitch pulled at the corner of his mouth.

“Yellowstone Hospital,” he replied. “It’s in a town called Yellowstone. Neutral territory. Mostly humans. West of here—at least a couple of hours.”

Without another word, I turned and walked toward Gavin. I grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the door, past the guards. He went with me without hesitation, and the moment we stepped outside, his arms wrapped around me.

“What happened?” he asked softly, pressing his lips to my temple. “What did he say to you?”

“I’ll tell you later,” I said. “But we need to go to Yellowstone.”

“What’s in Yellowstone?” he asked, brows lifting.

    I looked up at him.

    “Megan Churchill.”
