Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 866
Levi’s presence still clung to the place like a stain that refused to fade, even after months of confinement.
Gavin’s hand rested firmly against my lower back—steady, protective. He hadn’t said much during the drive, and I knew why. He was worried.
“Stay by my side,” he’d told me as we got out of the car.
A guard led us down a narrow corridor and stopped in front of a reinforced room. Thick glass separated us from the inside. Levi sat at the table, wrists shackled. His dark hair was longer than I remembered, his face thinner—but his eyes were the same. Sharp. Calculating. Always watching.
The moment his gaze landed on Gavin, his mouth twisted into something between amusement and contempt. He leaned back, eyes narrowing.
“Well, if it isn’t my old friend, Gavin Landry,” Levi drawled. “To what do I owe this honor, Almighty Alpha?”
Gavin didn’t look even remotely amused.
“We’re here for information,” he said, pulling out a chair for me. I sat, and he took the seat beside me, his hand never leaving my thigh. I laced my fingers through his, grounding myself.
Levi barked out a laugh.
“Of course you are. Why am I not surprised you still can’t figure things out on your own?”
“Cut the shit, Levi—”
“Tell me,” Levi interrupted smoothly, “did you ever figure out that Lila wasn’t the true heiress?” His gaze flicked to me. “Did you figure out who it really was?”
A cold knot formed in my stomach.
“How do you know that?” I asked before I could stop myself.
Levi laughed again, low and knowing.
“Oh, you’d be surprised what I know,” he murmured, then turned his attention back to Gavin. “I know a lot more than you think. And Alpha Landry here knows it too. That’s why you’re here, isn’t it?”
“Just tell us what you know about Megan Churchill,” Gavin said through clenched teeth.
Levi blinked—once, twice, three times—clearly caught off guard.
“Why do you want to know about my sister?” he asked, brows lifting.
“She’s not your sister,” Gavin replied coolly. “She was your stepsister before your parents divorced.”
Levi frowned. “That still doesn’t explain why you’re asking.”
“Because she’s Lila’s mother,” I blurted out. “Because until yesterday, we thought she was dead—only to find out she’s been alive this whole time, listed as missing. My adoptive parents admired her. They thought of her every time they looked at me, because they believed she gave me to them. Even if I was switched at birth—even if Megan isn’t really my mother—it still feels like she is. She gave my parents the chance to be parents. I just want to know where she is.”
Levi studied me carefully, his expression unreadable. Then he leaned back, rested his head against the chair, and nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving mine.
“Alright,” he said at last. “I’ll tell you what you want to know. But only you.”
His gaze slid toward Gavin. “I don’t want him in the room.”
“I’m not leaving,” Gavin growled. “I won’t leave my mate alone with you.”
“There are guards everywhere,” Levi said, gesturing lazily around the room. “What exactly do you think I’m going to do?”
“I still don’t trust you,” Gavin snapped, his wolf clearly agitated.
I placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him.
“You don’t have to trust him,” I said softly. “You just need to trust me. There’s glass between us, guards everywhere, and I’m not helpless. Don’t confuse my pregnancy with weakness—I can still fight if I have to.”
He looked at me—really looked at me—then smiled. He leaned down and kissed me, slow and firm.
“Okay,” he murmured against my lips. “I’ll be right outside. If you need me, use our bond. I’ll be here before you can blink.”
I smiled and kissed him again. “I will.”
We ignored Levi’s exaggerated gagging noises as Gavin stood and left the visitor area. The guards shut the door behind him.
I leaned back in my chair and turned to Levi, folding my arms across my chest.
“Alright,” I said coolly. “You’ve got me alone. Tell me where Megan is—and what really happened to her.”
