Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 864
“Meg is still alive?” I asked, my breath catching in my throat.
Meg had been an important part of my adoptive parents’ lives—and she was Lila’s mother. Lila deserved to know the truth about her mom, and my parents deserved the closure they’d never had. From the way they spoke about Meg when they told me how they’d met her, it was obvious how much admiration and affection they’d felt. They still wondered about her. How could they not?
Daisy nodded, and before she could say anything else, Erik’s voice cut in sharply, interrupting us.
“Judy, I think you should come back through the gate. Gavin is going to be furious…” he said, a slight tremor in his voice.
I rolled my eyes. noveldrama
“So what if he’s mad? I’ll deal with it when the time comes,” I said, waving off his concern. I can handle my husband. No problem.
“‘Mad’ isn’t the right word for how infuriated I am right now,” a dark, deep voice said, washing over me like a tidal wave.
My entire body froze. Even though my wolf leapt with joy at sensing her mate nearby, my heart started pounding far too fast, my breathing turning uneven.
I slowly turned to see a furious, red-faced Gavin standing near a pale Erik.
“Care to explain why my pregnant mate is talking to someone who’s harmed our family?” Gavin demanded, his eyes narrowing. “It doesn’t look like you’re keeping my mate safe, Erik.”
“Daisy isn’t going to hurt me, Gavin,” I said quickly. “And this isn’t Erik’s fault. He tried to stop me—you know how stubborn I am. He compromised and came with me. He didn’t know I’d step outside the gate. And honestly, we all misjudged Daisy. She’s a victim.”
“And you expect me to believe a single word she says?” he snapped. “She betrayed my family and humiliated my mother. There’s no way in hell—”
“I need you to trust me,” I said, stepping closer and placing my hand against his chest, feeling his rapid heartbeat beneath my palm. He stared down at me, eyes dark with anger. “She’s been through hell, Gavin—worse than you could imagine. I believe every word she told me. I’d know if she were lying. Please… I need you to trust me.”
He studied me for a long moment, conflict flickering in his eyes. Then his gaze softened, and he let out a slow sigh.
“Next time, call me,” he said quietly, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear. “I don’t want to hear about something like this from my daughter. Call me, and we’ll handle it together.”
I should’ve known Irene would’ve called him. I smiled despite myself, rising onto my toes and pressing a kiss to his lips.
“I’ll fill you in on everything else later,” I said softly, “but Megan Churchill is still alive.”
His brows drew together.
“What?”
“Megan Churchill—Levi’s sister. She’s alive,” I repeated, then turned back to Daisy. “Do you know which hospital she’s in?”
“I’m not sure,” Daisy admitted. “Levi used to move her around a lot. She could honestly be anywhere by now.”
I sighed, my shoulders slumping—until Gavin’s warm voice cut through, instantly grounding me.
“Then I guess we’ll have to ask Levi himself.”
