Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 863
“Well, anyway, I went to a seer to find out how to break the bond. I wanted out—more than anything, I wanted out,” Daisy said. “She told me the only one strong enough to break a mate bond is the host of magic. I’d heard someone call Lila that before, and I knew she’d just gotten her powers back. Noah had already told me everything when he asked me to spy on the Landrys and find out where they were keeping the gem. So I went to Lila and asked if she could help me. That’s when she told me about her own problems, and we agreed to help each other. The rest is history… and now I’m here, begging for your help.”
I stared at her for a moment, really looking at her face. I’d never seen her like this—so raw, so desperate. It didn’t bring me the satisfaction I might have expected. Instead, it made my stomach twist.
Or maybe that was just my pregnancy.
Without thinking, I reached for the latch on the gate between us and lifted it, letting the door swing open. The movement was so sudden that it took Erik a second to process what I’d done. When he did, he let out an angry growl.
“What part of ‘stay inside the fence’ did you not understand?” Erik snapped.
I stepped right up to Daisy, completely invading her space. She startled at my sudden closeness.
“What he’s doing to you is criminal. No one deserves that,” I said firmly. “I’ll help you.”
She blinked at me, stunned.
“You will?” she asked, her eyes widening, still glossy with tears.
“Of course I will,” I said. “You’re in so much pain, and I’m so sorry my brother is putting you through this. I may not really know him, but he’s not someone I ever want to get to know. Honestly, I’m not even sure I want anything to do with this family at all…”
The realization hit hard, and a tear slipped free. I wasn’t sure I trusted the Blackwells anymore. It was hard to think of them as my family.
“The only problem is,” I added quietly, staring down at my hands like they might offer answers, “I have no idea how to control my magic—let alone break bonds.”
“That’s okay,” Daisy said softly. Hope bloomed in her eyes, wiping away any lingering doubt that she might be lying. “We’ll figure it out.”
“Yes,” I said, nodding. “We’ll figure it out.” Then another thought struck me. “Where’s Lila?”
Daisy frowned.
“Probably sulking,” she said. “Finding out she’s not actually a Blackwell destroyed her. That was basically her entire identity. Now she doesn’t know who she is, and she has no family…”
“Well, that’s not entirely true,” I said. “She’s a Churchill.”
Daisy’s eyebrows shot up.
“Wait—what?”
I nodded, then shrugged.
“Yeah. Her mom was Megan Churchill.”
Daisy gasped. noveldrama
“Meg is her mother?”
“She was,” I said. “But she hasn’t been seen in years. It’s assumed she’s dead.”
Daisy shook her head, eyes wide.
“Meg isn’t dead,” she said, shocking me. “I know because a few years ago, I had a relationship with Levi Churchill. It was part of a job Noah gave me, but I was with Levi for months. One day, he got a phone call—I could tell it was from a doctor. He rushed to a hospital across town, and I went with him since he was my ride. He went into a room, and I saw the woman lying in the bed. She was clearly in a coma. Later, he told me it was his sister, Meg. She’d been in an accident when she was nineteen and had been in a coma ever since.”
