Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 858
“Wait… so you’re, like, magical now?” Nan asked, her brows shooting up to her hairline.
She tucked a strand of auburn hair behind her ear and curled her feet beneath her on the couch. We were sitting in the villa’s parlor, and I’d just finished catching her up on everything that had happened over the last few days. It was the day after I woke up and learned that my family had been the Blackwells all along.
“I guess so,” I said, staring down at my hands like I expected them to suddenly do something. “It still doesn’t feel real.”
“Do you feel super powerful?” Nan asked, leaning forward, clearly fascinated.
“Yeah,” I admitted. “Like there’s this burst of energy surging through me or something.”
“That’s incredible,” she breathed, her eyes lighting up. “I can’t believe you’re a witch.”
“The Host of Magic,” Irene corrected calmly. “That’s far more powerful than an ordinary witch.”
“Yeah, and I’m not even sure how to use this kind of magic,” I muttered. “It’s… intense.”
“When do you meet Cora for training?” Nan asked.
“Tomorrow morning,” I replied. “Everyone agreed I needed today off since my entire world flipped upside down yesterday. Gavin went to see Levi, and I was thinking of going to see my parents.”
“Your Montgomery family or the Blackwells?” Nan asked.
“The Montgomerys,” I said without hesitation. “I know I just found out about my birth parents, but I really need advice from the people who raised me—the ones who actually know me. I love my mom and dad more than anything, even if we’re not related by blood. They’ll know exactly what to say right now.”
Nan wrapped an arm around me and pulled me against her, resting her head gently against mine.
“I’m sorry you’re dealing with all of this,” she murmured. “Just try to relax. Your baby can’t handle stress, and I’m not letting my nephew be in danger.”
I smiled at that.
“You’re going to be the best Auntie Nan,” I teased, nudging her shoulder until she laughed.
“Damn right I will,” she said with a sly grin. “I’m going to spoil him so much you’ll get sick of it.”
“I could never get sick of you,” I laughed.
She laughed too. Irene smiled as well, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. She seemed tense—almost anxious—since joining us in the parlor. She hadn’t been there the whole time, only arriving a little while ago.
She tucked her honey strawberry-blonde hair behind her ear, glancing around the room like she expected something to leap out at her. She worried her lower lip between her teeth.
I was about to ask what was wrong when a door shut somewhere in the villa. Irene’s entire body went rigid.
I frowned, confused—until I saw him.
“Erik…” I breathed.
He stepped into the room, smiling as his eyes landed on me.
“Hey,” he said. “How are you feeling?”
“Better,” I replied. “Actually… I feel powerful.”
“So what exactly happened?” he asked, sitting down on the couch beside Irene, who looked like she might bolt at any second.
I quickly filled him in. By the time I finished, he let out a low whistle.
“Damn,” he said, shaking his head. “I knew there was something shady going on. So now we need to watch out for the Churchills?”
I nodded, exhaling as I looked around at my friends.
“Looks that way,” I muttered. “What else is new? All we ever do is fight the Churchills—first Levi, now the rest of his family.”
“Well, we’re not letting them touch you,” Erik said firmly, giving me a reassuring smile. “They have nothing on the Silver Crescent Pack. We’re your family, and we’ll protect you.”
“Thanks,” I said quietly, “but not everyone feels that way.”
“Oh, please,” Nan said. “Some girls want to protest you being Luna? You’re going to be an amazing Luna.” She gave me a quick squeeze.
A nervous knot twisted in my stomach.
“Half the pack thinks I’m unqualified,” I admitted.
“And that’s the half that doesn’t know you,” Irene said coolly, folding her arms across her chest. “I’ll still help you become the best Luna you can be. Trust me—they won’t know what hit them when you step up.”
