Seducing My Ex’s Father In Law Chapter 845
“I had Gavin with me,” I told her, glancing over my shoulder at him. He stood a short distance away, deliberately giving us space.
She nodded.
“Yeah, but we don’t know this Coraline person. For all I know, she could be some all-powerful witch who wanted to hurt you. She didn’t do anything to you, did she?”
I shook my head.
“I promise, I’m okay,” I assured her.
Her eyes searched my face, clearly unconvinced, but she didn’t press the issue. After a moment, she exhaled and nodded, stepping back.
“So… how did things go?” Nan asked.
“Maybe we should talk about it later,” Gavin said, wrapping a protective arm around my shoulders. “It’s been a long day, and Judy needs to rest. She’s exhausted.”
I nodded in agreement, even though part of me wanted to tell Nan everything. Something deep inside me told me to keep it quiet for now—at least until I could make sense of what was happening and figure out what to do next.
Nan frowned as she studied my face.
“How about a movie night?” she suggested. “We can forget everything and just hang out… like old times.”
She looked so hopeful that I couldn’t bring myself to say no.
“A movie night sounds great,” I said.
“I’ll make you girls some popcorn,” Gavin added, kissing my cheek softly before heading inside.
I smiled as I watched him go, my heart swelling with love. Nan looped her arm through mine and guided me toward the front door.
“You’ll tell me eventually, right?” she asked quietly.
“Of course,” I assured her. “Don’t worry. I’ll tell you everything soon enough. Just… trust me—it’s a lot.”
“I’m on the edge of my seat,” she teased.
We spent the next couple of hours eating popcorn, gossiping mindlessly, and watching a cheesy rom-com. By the time the movie started winding down, my eyelids were unbearably heavy, my head struggling to stay upright.
Nan hugged me goodnight before heading home to her mate and baby. I went upstairs and found our bedroom empty. I let out a breath and headed toward Gavin’s office instead.
I wasn’t surprised to find him sitting behind his desk, eyes locked on his computer screen.
I knocked lightly on the open door and leaned against the frame. He looked up and gave me a faint smile.
“Getting ready for bed?”
I nodded.
“Yeah. Nan just left. I was hoping you’d already be in bed waiting for me.”
“Sorry, babe. I had a bit of work to catch up on,” he said gently. “Just a few more minutes, and I’ll join you.”
I smiled.
“I’ll hold you to that,” I teased, pushing off the doorframe. “Please don’t be long.”
I left without another word, retreating to our bedroom and closing the door behind me. I sank onto the bed and turned onto my side, resting my hand over my stomach. In that quiet moment, it was just me and my baby, and I felt more connected to him than ever.
My eyes grew heavier by the second. I wanted to wait for Gavin, but sleep was impossible to fight. The villa was quiet, soothing, pulling me under.
And then it happened.
A high-pitched howl tore through the villa grounds—violent, sharp, and terrifying.
I jolted upright, my chest heaving as I struggled to catch my breath. Almost instantly, I heard Gavin’s wolf growl, deep and furious, and I knew he had already left the villa.
I ran for the door and nearly collided with Erik.
“Erik?” I asked, my breath ragged. “What’s going on? Where’s Gavin?”
“You need to stay here,” he said firmly. “I have to check on Irene, but you need to promise me you’ll stay put, Judy.”
“Tell me what’s happening,” I pleaded, tears blurring my vision. “What’s going on, Erik?”
“There’s been an attack,” he said, his eyes locking onto mine. “Rogues. They’re attacking the pack.”
