Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3423
After a burst of blinding light, a new world unfolded before them.
Blue skies stretched endlessly overhead, dotted with drifting white clouds. Beneath their feet lay soft, vibrant grass, and in the distance, rolling mountains rose one after another. The air itself felt alive—rich spiritual energy flowed everywhere, so dense that every pore in their bodies seemed to open in response.
Bridget drew in a sharp breath.
“This place actually carries the aura of the ancient cultivation era,” she said in astonishment. “Legend says that back then, spiritual energy was so abundant that cultivators emerged one after another. Compared to today’s declining age, there were far more powerful warriors, and they reached incredible heights.”
The others looked around uncertainly. Awe and unease mixed in their hearts as they faced this unfamiliar world.
Andrew focused his mind and carefully sensed the surroundings.
After a moment, he calmly pointed in a certain direction.
“Over there. Let’s go take a look.”
They crossed the hillside ahead, and a valley soon came into view below them.
Thin trails of smoke rose lazily from cooking fires. A few simple thatched cottages stood scattered across the valley floor.
Andrew and the others walked closer.
Luna was just about to step forward and call out to see if anyone was home when the door of one cottage suddenly opened.
A man stepped out.
His hair had turned gray, though he didn’t look particularly old. When he saw the people outside, surprise flashed across his face.
Then his gaze landed on Andrew.
His voice trembled.
“Andy!”
Andrew’s chest tightened. Shock filled his face.
“Dad… how did you end up like this?”
The man standing before him was Reginald.
But compared to when he had first entered the Veiled Paradise, he looked far older.
More importantly—
Andrew could clearly sense that Reginald’s martial arts had completely disappeared.
He had become an ordinary man.
What had happened here?
A surge of anger rose uncontrollably in Andrew’s chest.
“Reggie, are the people from the Royal Court here?”
A woman’s voice came from inside the cottage, having overheard the conversation.
Moments later, she stepped outside as well.
When her eyes met Andrew’s, his own eyes instantly turned red.
“Mom!”
The woman had elegant dark hair pinned neatly behind her head. Her expression was warm and gentle, though faint lines had formed at the corners of her eyes. She looked about the same age as Bridget.
Yet the grace and kindness in her face had never changed.
The moment she saw Andrew, tears flooded her eyes.
She rushed forward and wrapped him in a tight embrace.
“Is it really you? Andy—my son?”
“Oh, my dear child, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you!”
“Your father said you would definitely come find us. I’ve thought about you day and night. At last… the wait is over!”
Mother and son had been separated for years.
Now, at last, they were reunited.
Andrew had never imagined that Eleanor was still alive. His heart filled with countless questions.
Why had his parents—especially Reginald—become ordinary people after entering the Veiled Paradise?
Why were they living here like this?
When Bridget saw Reginald, her expression shifted noticeably.
Her emotions wavered.
She opened her mouth as if to say something, but no words came out.
Reginald’s expression also turned complicated for a moment.
But eventually, he stepped aside and smiled.
“Everyone, please come in,” he said warmly. “Our home is simple, so please forgive the lack of hospitality.”
Luna, Valerie, and Nyx quickly waved their hands.
“It’s more than enough,” they insisted.
Nyx rushed forward and hugged Reginald, tears streaming down her face.
“How did you end up like this?”
Reginald smiled gently.
“Silly girl. This life is actually quite nice.”
“Don’t cry. Let’s go inside first.”
Shiloh, however, had kept her brow furrowed the entire time.
Once they entered the house, she spoke without hesitation.
“The Veiled Paradise is filled with such abundant spiritual energy. It’s impossible that only the two of you live here.”
She looked straight at Reginald and Eleanor.
“Where are the forces of the Veiled Faction… and the Royal Court?”
