Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3
Godslayer spun through the air before slamming into the wall of the grand hall, burying itself deep in the stone.
Shock flashed across Andrew’s face.
Red lightning coiled around his body as he lunged forward again.
But the Vampire Queen had already moved.
Her hand shot out and seized his throat in an iron grip.
A devastating surge of power flooded into Andrew’s body instantly.
In that split second, he felt the shadow of death closing in.
Shiloh let out a cold snort.
The phantom form that had been battling the Vampire Queen’s spiritual projection snapped back into her body.
Without hesitation, Shiloh launched herself forward.
At the same time, the Vampire Queen’s spiritual form also returned to her physical body.
She let out a mocking laugh as massive wings burst from her back, spreading wide enough to blot out the sky.
With Andrew dangling from her grasp, she slowly rose into the air.
Her overwhelming presence radiated outward from the grand hall as her thunderous voice echoed everywhere.
“I am the ruler of this world!”
“All of you rebels will die!”
The moment her words rang out, the Dark Clans outside the palace surged with renewed power.
Holtrien’s forces, already on the brink of collapse, were instantly pushed into a deadly trap with no way out.
Andrew’s mind spun in chaos.
He could clearly feel it—the Vampire Queen’s power was overwhelming, far beyond anything he could possibly withstand.
And yet, strangely, she didn’t seem in any hurry to kill him.
Shiloh’s eyes revealed clear anxiety.
But she didn’t rush forward recklessly.
Charging in now would accomplish nothing—it would only get both her and Andrew annihilated in a storm of blood.
Her voice turned cold.
“Lilith, let him go.”
“He’s Valerius’s descendant. Whatever lies between us can be settled separately.”
She paused, her gaze sharp.
“But after all this time… do you truly have no feelings left for Valerius?”
The Vampire Queen’s wings spread like massive banners.
Each beat sent hurricane-force winds roaring through the entire palace.
Her voice turned icy, filled with deep, seething hatred.
“Valerius was cruel to me back then.”
“If I hadn’t loved him… if I hadn’t trusted him… how could the two of you have joined forces to cast me into the abyss and force me into a thousand years of slumber?”
Her crimson eyes burned fiercely.
“If you hadn’t mentioned Valerius just now, I might have spared Andrew’s life.”
“But since you brought him up—he must die!”
Her grip tightened around Andrew’s throat.
Bulging blood vessels erupted along her arm like writhing serpents, crawling toward his neck to pierce his skin.
Within seconds, she would drain every last drop of blood from his body.
Shiloh finally lost her composure.
“No!”
A blue tempest erupted around her.
The domed ceiling of the Blood Sanctum was blasted straight into the sky.
A massive pillar of light connecting heaven and earth crashed down upon Shiloh.
She slowly rose within the column of light, her eyes transforming into blazing blue.
The Vampire Queen threw her head back and laughed.
“Shiloh, you’ve actually developed feelings for a mere mortal?”
“You’re just as pathetic as I once was.”
Her voice turned colder.
“Unfortunately for you, I’m not the same person I was back then.”
“The blood of Valerius’s descendants may pierce my defenses…”
“But from this day forward, it will never pierce my heart again!”
Shiloh thrust both hands forward.
A torrent of destructive blue energy surged toward the Vampire Queen.
In response, the Vampire Queen’s flawless face suddenly twisted and melted away.
Her terrifying true form emerged.
Two long fangs extended from the corners of her mouth.
With a ferocious roar, she unleashed a surge of blood-red energy to meet Shiloh’s attack.
