Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3384
The remnant spirit slowly lifted its head.
Its hollow eyes shifted away from Andrew and settled on Shiloh.
For a moment, the entire chamber fell silent.
The faded gold piles, the broken pedestal, the dying Crimson Flame Lord wheezing on the floor—everything seemed frozen in place as the spirit studied her.
Then its expression changed.
Shock.
Followed by something deeper.
Recognition.
“…A Greene Saintess,” the spirit whispered.
Shiloh stiffened slightly.
“You know my family?”
The spirit let out a long, hollow laugh that echoed strangely in the chamber.
“Know it?”
“I was bound by it.”
Andrew’s grip on his sword tightened slightly.
“Explain.”
The spirit turned slowly toward the shattered remains of the pedestal.
“More than a thousand years ago, the Greene family did not guard treasure.”
“They guarded me.”
Nyx frowned.
“You’re saying the vault was built just to trap you?”
The spirit nodded.
“I was once a cultivator who pursued forbidden paths… the power to rewrite life and memory itself.”
Joe blinked.
“…That sounds exactly like the kind of thing that ends badly.”
“It did,” the spirit said bitterly.
“The Greene ancestors defeated me and sealed my soul into that pedestal.”
He gestured toward the shattered stone.
“For a thousand years I was forced to grant twisted wishes to those foolish enough to carve their names there.”
Andrew understood instantly.
“You weren’t granting miracles.”
“You were extracting payment.”
The spirit’s hollow smile widened.
“Exactly.”
“Power, immortality, strength… I could give all of it.”
“But the greater the desire…”
“…the greater the price their soul had to pay.”
Across the chamber, the Crimson Flame Lord let out a weak, broken laugh.
“…You… cursed… monster…”
His body was now nothing more than shriveled skin and bone.
The power he had stolen had completely devoured him.
The spirit didn’t even look at him.
“Greed always destroys itself.”
Then his gaze returned to Shiloh.
“…But her case is different.”
Andrew’s eyes sharpened.
“Why?”
The spirit slowly approached Shiloh.
Nyx instantly moved half a step forward, blade ready.
But Andrew raised a hand slightly.
“Wait.”
The spirit stopped just a few feet from Shiloh.
His voice became softer.
“…You were not cursed.”
Shiloh froze.
“What?”
“The Greene Saintesses were designed this way.”
Joe blinked again.
“…Designed?”
The spirit nodded slowly.
“Your ageless body… your fading memories…”
“Those were side effects of a seal placed on the Greene bloodline.”
Andrew’s eyes narrowed.
“A seal for what?”
The spirit looked straight into Shiloh’s eyes.
“To keep my power from returning.”
The chamber fell silent again.
Nyx muttered under her breath.
“You’re saying her body has been acting like a prison for part of your power?”
“Yes.”
The spirit sighed.
“For generations, every Greene Saintess carried a fragment of my sealed power.”
“That is why they did not age.”
“That is why their memories eventually fractured.”
Shiloh’s hands trembled slightly.
“All this time…”
“…my life was just a prison?”
The spirit nodded sadly.
“Yes.”
Andrew’s voice turned cold.
“Then remove it.”
The spirit smiled faintly.
“That was already your request, my lord.”
He raised a translucent hand.
A soft silver light began gathering around Shiloh.
“This will release the fragment inside her.”
“Once it is gone…”
“Her body will return to normal.”
“No more ageless curse.”
“No more broken memories.”
Shiloh looked at Andrew nervously.
“…Will I change?”
Andrew stepped closer and gently held her hand.
His voice was steady.
“You’ll finally be free.”
She took a slow breath.
Then nodded.
“…Do it.”
The spirit placed his glowing hand against her forehead.
Light exploded outward.
The entire vault filled with a warm silver glow.
For a moment—
Time itself seemed to pause.
Then a thin stream of dark energy slowly rose from Shiloh’s body and drifted into the spirit’s hand.
The spirit sighed in relief.
“…After a thousand years…”
“…I’m finally whole again.”
Shiloh staggered slightly.
Andrew caught her before she could fall.
Her breathing steadied.
Slowly, she opened her eyes again.
But something was different.
The faint, distant look that had always lived in them was gone.
They were clear.
Sharp.
Complete.
Shiloh blinked once… then twice.
“…Andrew?”
He smiled faintly.
“Yeah?”
Tears suddenly filled her eyes.
“I remember everything.”
