Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3380
The moment Andrew stepped through the translucent entrance, a chill ran across his skin.
It was as if he had passed through an invisible curtain separating two worlds.
Behind him, Nyx, Shiloh, and Joe followed carefully. The moment all four entered, the rippling doorway behind them slowly solidified again, sealing the stone wall as if nothing had ever existed there.
Joe turned around immediately.
“…Well,” he muttered, tapping the wall. “Guess we’re committed now.”
Inside, the air was cold and dry, carrying the faint smell of ancient dust.
A long stone corridor stretched ahead into darkness.
Strangely, the walls were not rough like natural cave rock. They were perfectly carved and polished, covered with faint carvings that glimmered slightly under the moonlight still filtering from the entrance.
Nyx leaned closer to examine them.
“These are symbols… some kind of ancient script.”
Shiloh’s eyes widened slightly.
“I remember these.”
Andrew looked at her.
“You can read them?”
“Some of them,” she said slowly, brushing her fingers across the carvings. “They are warnings.”
Joe sighed dramatically.
“Of course they are.”
Shiloh continued reading softly.
“Those who are not of the Greene bloodline… shall not trespass… or the guardians will awaken.”
Joe immediately stepped back.
“…Guardians?”
Andrew remained calm.
“Ancient families loved their traps and myths.”
But even as he spoke, he released a thin stream of his aura, letting his senses expand through the corridor.
A moment later, his expression changed slightly.
“…No,” he said quietly.
Nyx noticed instantly.
“What is it?”
Andrew looked deeper into the darkness ahead.
“There’s something moving.”
Joe swallowed.
“Moving?”
Before anyone could respond—
CLICK.
A faint metallic sound echoed through the corridor.
The floor beneath their feet suddenly trembled.
From the walls, several stone panels slid open with grinding noises.
Heavy footsteps echoed in the darkness ahead.
THUD.
THUD.
THUD.
A pair of enormous figures slowly emerged from the shadows.
They were nearly ten feet tall.
Their bodies were made entirely of dark stone and metal, covered in ancient runes that glowed faintly blue.
Each one held a massive halberd that looked as if it could split a warhorse in half.
Joe stared in disbelief.
“…Okay.”
“So the guardians are real.”
The stone giants’ eyes suddenly ignited with cold blue light.
A deep mechanical voice echoed through the corridor.
“Unauthorized presence detected.”
“Non-Greene bloodlines identified.”
“Guardian protocol activated.”
The halberds lifted.
The ground shook as the constructs began marching toward them.
Joe slowly pulled out his weapons.
“I really hate ancient family vaults.”
Nyx smiled slightly as she drew her blade.
“At least this one is interesting.”
Andrew rolled his shoulders and stepped forward, gripping his greatsword.
Behind him, Shiloh suddenly said nervously—
“Wait!”
“They might not attack if I—”
But it was already too late.
The first stone guardian swung its halberd down with terrifying force.
The battle inside the Greene family vault had begun.
