Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3371
Andrew walked over to Joe and greeted him with a smile. “Mr. Driscoll, it’s been a couple of years. How have you been holding up?”
Joe’s expression flickered with something complicated, but he pushed it aside and smiled back. “Pretty good, all things considered. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.”
Andrew nodded sincerely. “Thank you—I appreciate that. I’m sure the past two years haven’t been easy, keeping everything running for Shiloh. Mr. Driscoll, if you ever think about rebuilding your family name, I’d be more than willing to help however I can.”
Joe slowly shook his head. “Don’t call me that anymore. That title doesn’t mean anything to me now. These days, I’m just traveling with Ms. Greene, going wherever the road takes us. Everything from before doesn’t matter much anymore. Rebuilding the family and all that… maybe someday, but not right now.”
Andrew nodded. “Fair enough. But my offer still stands. If you ever need anything, just say the word.”
Joe suddenly asked, “Andrew, do you love Ms. Greene?”
Seeing the seriousness in Joe’s eyes, Andrew answered with equal sincerity. “I love her, and I’ll treat her well. You have my word.”
Joe let out a long, slow breath. “That’s all I needed to hear. After you disappeared two years ago, she pushed herself harder than anyone I’ve ever seen. She trained day and night, chasing down the Greene family’s hidden vault, all because she wanted to avenge you. She never said a word about it to anyone—not even me. But I’ve been by her side long enough to know the truth.”
His gaze drifted toward Shiloh’s back, and something in his eyes dimmed.
Andrew had long known that Joe had feelings for Shiloh. It went all the way back to their time in Gabo Creek, when Joe had never quite been able to let her go. But Shiloh had never seen him that way.
Then, through a twist of fate neither of them had planned, Andrew and Shiloh had become intimate during their time at Swordhaven Keep. What had started as an accident had slowly grown into something real.
Andrew gave Joe a firm pat on the shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of her.”
For two years, Shiloh had pushed herself to the brink for his sake, all without ever saying a word. A woman like that was rare, and Andrew knew it.
Something warm settled in his chest as the realization finally sank in. Their connection had started long before either of them understood it, but only now, in this moment, did it feel truly solid.
Among all the women close to him, Shiloh was different in a way he couldn’t quite put into words.
Unlike Lauren and Francesca, who had always been nearby, Shiloh had lived her own life in Holtrien’s martial underground, driven by the Greene family’s secrets and her own pursuit of justice. She had kept Andrew at arm’s length for so long, outwardly cold and distant.
Yet somehow, without either of them intending it, she had ended up carrying his child.
She had brought that baby into the world and raised him on her own for more than two years.
Andrew slowly shook his head, struck by how strange and unscripted life could be.
Just then, a bright, bubbly laugh cut through his thoughts.
He turned to see Nyx already making herself at home with Remyn, scooping the toddler up and bouncing him happily.
Shiloh watched from nearby, her voice warm and gentle. “Remyn, say hi to Auntie Nyx.”
Nyx immediately waved her hand in protest. “Nope! No ‘Auntie.’ You call me ‘Mommy’ too. We’ll figure out the ranking once we get home and decide who outranks who.”
A quiet wave of relief washed over Andrew. The last thing he needed was drama in his personal life. It looked like things were going to be just fine.
He turned back to Shiloh.
“I think we should put the matter of the Greene family vault on hold for now.”
