Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3369
Andrew finally realized that what he had just said sounded exactly like something a clueless man would blurt out. Asking her directly whether she liked him was hardly the smoothest move.
With Shiloh’s pride and rebellious nature, there was no way she would admit her true feelings so easily.
“Shiloh, I like you, and from now on, I’ll treat you well,” Andrew said, pulling her into his arms. His warm hand slid gently to her waist. “Will you be my woman? Can we stay together for the rest of our lives?”
Shiloh lowered her head, her voice soft and shy. “That’s more like it.”
Andrew looked at her flushed face. Even the tips of her ears had turned red.
After two years apart, she seemed even gentler than before. Perhaps becoming a mother had softened her, making her warmer and more affectionate.
Shiloh had always been breathtakingly beautiful. Though she carried a cool, distant aura, she was unexpectedly obedient whenever she was with Andrew.
They said time apart made love grow stronger, and they had been separated for two full years. Memories of that night at Swordhaven Keep—when their bodies had tangled together in passion—suddenly rushed back to Andrew.
Heat surged through him.
He lowered his head and captured her lips in a kiss.
Shiloh had not been expecting it and tried to push him away. But Andrew had already deepened the kiss, his tongue brushing against hers.
A low growl escaped him as desire flared. He scooped her up in his arms and carried her toward the nearby bed.
Shiloh gasped softly, her heart racing as she instantly realized what he intended.
Even as her resistance began to weaken, she suddenly remembered that downstairs were not only her own people but also members of the Cavendish royal family. Just moments earlier, she had also heard a woman’s voice that sounded deeply concerned about Andrew.
At the last second, Shiloh forced herself to pull away from his lips and gasp for air.
“Not here. Andrew, let’s wait until I finish what I need to do. After that, we can go somewhere else, okay?”
Andrew felt a flash of disappointment but quickly regained his composure.
Nyx was still downstairs, and this was definitely not the right time. Besides, he had not even properly acknowledged his son yet.
Clearing his mind, Andrew set Shiloh down. But before letting her go, he pulled her back and kissed her hard one more time.
Shiloh bit her lip, half embarrassed and half annoyed, though her heart felt warm with sweetness.
“Don’t let Remyn see that,” she warned. “How am I supposed to set a good example for him?”
Andrew ignored her completely and laughed.
“Come on. Let’s go downstairs. I want to take a good look at Remyn.”
One minute later, downstairs, Andrew held the boy in his arms, smiling brightly.
“Remyn, call me Daddy.”
Remyn glanced shyly at Shiloh.
Shiloh blushed slightly but said calmly, “Remyn, he’s the father I told you about. See? I didn’t lie to you. Your daddy came to find you.”
Remyn stayed quiet for a moment before speaking.
“Daddy… but it’s strange. Mommy said Daddy was dead, and now he suddenly showed up again.”
Children spoke without filters.
Andrew’s face darkened instantly, though he did not blame the boy. He knew the child must have heard it from his mother.
So he turned to Shiloh with a hint of helpless frustration.
Shiloh immediately put on her most innocent expression.
“At the time, you really were missing and presumed dead. I didn’t know you were still alive, so that’s what I told him.”
Andrew let out a helpless smile.
“All right.”
Still holding the boy, he walked over and said, “Nyx, this is Shiloh Greene—the mother of my child.”
