Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3368
When she finished speaking, it was as if every last bit of strength drained from Shiloh at once.
She sank down, buried her face in her arms, and broke into deep, heaving sobs.
“Andrew, do you have any idea what these past two years have been like—raising a child on my own? Remyn came into this world without a father!”
Her voice shook so badly she could barely get the words out.
Andrew’s throat tightened.
Yet beneath the ache in his chest, his heart surged with shock and a wild, overwhelming joy.
“Then why…” he asked hoarsely, “didn’t you come find me in Chetvine?”
Shiloh wiped her tears, her voice hollow with exhaustion.
“Because I heard you had been cornered by Guillermo, and no one knew whether you were alive or dead. After that, everyone started saying you were gone… that you had died.”
“When I finally confirmed something really had happened to you, it felt like the sky collapsed on me.”
“So I left Chetvine. I got as far away as I could from anything connected to you. I had Remyn, and I named him that because I wanted a piece of you to live on through him…”
“So I could remember you. Always.”
Her voice broke completely.
“You know I have memory loss. I was terrified that one day I would forget you.”
The moment those words left her mouth, Shiloh’s breathing suddenly faltered.
The color drained from her face, and a thin line of blood appeared at the corner of her lips.
Andrew felt as if something inside him had been ripped open.
He wanted to kick himself.
Remyn was his son.
Shiloh had given him a son, and yet just moments ago, he had been blind to it.
He should have known.
Someone like Shiloh would never give herself to just anyone. The moment she had allowed him into her life, she had already made her decision in her own uncompromising way—that she belonged to him completely.
That was who Shiloh was: proud, absolute, and unwavering.
It was the very thing that defined her.
“Shiloh, I’ll take care of you and the child. No matter what, I’ll see it through,” Andrew said firmly.
Without hesitation, he stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.
She tried to struggle, but his palm pressed gently against her back. A warm surge of inner energy flowed into her body.
Almost instantly, her coughing stopped, and her breathing steadied.
But as Andrew examined her condition more closely, he realized she was injured.
A flash of killing intent crossed his eyes, though his expression remained calm.
Gradually, Shiloh settled down and stopped resisting.
Tears still streamed down her face as she looked at him, her eyes filled with grief and pain.
That look held love and hatred tangled together.
Two years had changed her.
She was softer with him now than she had ever been before. Andrew was certain that two years ago, she would never have allowed herself to appear this vulnerable, this raw.
His heart softened, and he held her closer.
She resisted at first, but slowly relaxed in his arms.
“Andrew,” she whispered.
“Yeah.”
“You know… even if you hadn’t come, I would have raised Remyn on my own just fine.”
Andrew shook his head.
“Remyn is my son, and you’re his mother. There was never a world where I wouldn’t come find you both.”
Shiloh murmured softly, “But…”
“No buts,” Andrew cut in. “Once things here are settled, you and Remyn are coming back to Chetvine with me—to the Lloyd royal family. Everything you and Remyn could ever need will be taken care of.”
Shiloh fell silent.
But at the corners of her lips, the faintest smile appeared.
Andrew rested his hands on her shoulders and looked at her warmly.
“Shiloh, one time—and you were already pregnant. I didn’t expect the universe to be this generous to me.”
Shiloh’s face flushed bright red.
She gritted her teeth and snapped, “You’ve got a lot of nerve joking about that. You’re the one who forced that situation in the first place. And you didn’t even bother to ask whether I actually have feelings for you—or whether I want to be your woman.”
Andrew blinked. “You mean you don’t?”
Shiloh’s face turned even redder.
She let out a sharp, dismissive laugh.
“No, I don’t. I’ve never met a man as shameless and straightforward as you.”
