Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3342
Andrew’s voice turned icy.
“Harmony Sect doesn’t need to show me respect. It just needs to serve the country. And let me make one thing clear—I’ve never had much patience for the Eight Ancient Sects. I killed the patriarch of Umbral Peak Sect and Julius Bowen of the Divine Alchemists without hesitation.
“But here, I held back. Because at the end of the day, we’re supposed to be on the same side. I’ve let things go again and again. And yet Madam Fontaine, Elder Cantino—you both seem to think I’m someone you can push around.
“Are you really trying to force me to use violence?”
Giovanni’s face drained of color. The other Harmony Sect masters felt the pressure rising from Andrew’s body, a suffocating surge of power that made their expressions stiffen instantly.
Dorothy hurried forward. “Mr. Lloyd, please wait. Fine—you won. Harmony Sect did make the first disgraceful move. But no matter what, you owe Charlotte. She suffered because of you.”
“She’s the most outstanding disciple in Harmony Sect, and you didn’t even spare her a glance. If word gets out, what will people think of us? What will they say about Charlotte? They’ll say she’s worthless—that even if she stripped naked, no one would want her.”
Andrew let out a cold laugh. “Madam Fontaine, you’re truly relentless.”
He found her exhausting. Still, he had no desire to escalate things. Most of Harmony Sect’s disciples had already gone down the mountain.
“I’ll compensate Ms. Easterling and apologize. Madam Fontaine, everything you did was to push her into breaking through to the martial god level, wasn’t it? Fine. I can help her myself.”
Dorothy’s eyes lit up. “Really? You’re willing to dual cultivate with Charlotte?”
Andrew shook his head. “Not dual cultivation. I’ll use my own method to raise her to the martial god level.”
Dorothy hesitated. “That method isn’t common, is it? Mr. Lloyd, are you certain it will work?”
“My people have all succeeded,” Andrew replied evenly. “Ms. Easterling is gifted. She’ll succeed too. And if she doesn’t, you can hold me responsible.”
Dorothy felt as though she’d found a lifeline at the edge of a cliff. Harmony Sect’s training had always revolved around shared-energy practices between partners. The idea that another path could lead to the same result had never even crossed her mind.
Still, if Andrew said he could do it, she wouldn’t argue.
Charlotte’s cheek was still red from the earlier slap—it hadn’t been light. Through her tears, she stubbornly shook her head.
“Forget it, Madam Fontaine. If you want to punish me, then do it. I won’t obey your arrangements anymore. All of you treat me like a tool. If you really can’t stand me, then just kill me.”
Dorothy’s brows shot up in fury. “You ungrateful girl, don’t test my patience! Do you really think I wouldn’t discipline you? Everything I’ve done was for your own good.”
She turned to Andrew. “Mr. Lloyd, I’ll leave Charlotte to you. Help her break through first. We’ll wait outside. Once it’s done, we’ll head out and catch up with the others at Azure Gate.”
Andrew nodded. “Please step outside.”
Dorothy forced a smile and shot Charlotte a subtle but unmistakable warning look before leading the others out.
Andrew closed the door.
“Ms. Easterling,” he said softly, “I’m sorry. I didn’t expect you’d be punished because of me.”
Charlotte lay facedown on the bed, sobbing harder. Her shoulders trembled with every breath.
Andrew stepped closer and gently patted her shoulder. “Come on. I’ll help open your meridians. I’ll channel my energy through them and give you the push you need to break through to the martial god level.”
Charlotte lifted her tear-streaked face. “You’re not lying to me this time, are you?”
Andrew exhaled quietly. “I’m not lying. Before, I didn’t have a choice. It was a split-second decision—I did what I had to do.”
