Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3340
Dorothy spoke calmly. “There’s nothing unfair about this. Securing Andrew’s essence alone already puts us ahead. More importantly, the situation wasn’t in our favor. If Andrew had chosen to act recklessly and force the Harmony Sect into submission, we would’ve gained nothing and still ended up bowing to his strength.”
Another alluring elder let out a soft laugh. “Madam Fontaine is right. Overall, the Harmony Sect benefited this time. The Eight Ancient Sects uniting against the enemy was unavoidable.”
She continued, “Andrew came on strong. In today’s Holtrien, no one can stop him. Since yielding was inevitable, pledging loyalty early and gaining something in return was the smarter move.”
Dorothy smiled. “Exactly. Charlotte seems to have gained quite a bit. Andrew’s essence must be incredibly potent. At the very least, it should help her break through to Martial God.”
Giovanni and the other elders stared at her in shock.
“One session and she jumps straight to Martial God? Madam Fontaine, that’s impossible.”
Dorothy gave a small snort. “I personally checked Charlotte’s inner energy. There was indeed a powerful force circulating inside her. As long as she refines it properly, reaching Martial God won’t be difficult. Andrew truly is a rare and supreme cultivation partner.”
A female elder covered her mouth as she laughed. “Madam Fontaine, if the opportunity arises, perhaps you should cultivate with Mr. Lloyd as well. With your charm, once he experiences that pleasure, surely he won’t refuse.”
Dorothy’s cheeks flushed faintly, but she didn’t grow angry. Instead, she let out an awkward chuckle. “There’s no need to rush such matters.”
Just then, a soft sound came from inside the room.
Charlotte had awakened.
Dorothy hurried in and asked gently, “Charlotte, how do you feel?”
Charlotte blinked, confused. “Madam Fontaine… what happened to me? Where is everyone?”
Dorothy smiled. “They’ve already left the sect. We were only waiting for you to wake up so we could depart together. Charlotte, well done. Hurry and refine Andrew’s essence.”
Charlotte froze.
“Andrew’s essence?” she murmured. “Madam Fontaine… I failed to tempt him. I didn’t cultivate with him. How could I have obtained any essence?”
Dorothy and the elders went silent.
“Charlotte,” one elder said slowly, “did nothing happen between you and Andrew?”
“That’s impossible,” another insisted. “When we saw you, your energy was surging. That was clearly the sign of a successful session.”
“And the room was a mess,” someone else added. “You were alone together. There’s no way nothing happened.”
Voices rose one after another, disbelief thick in the air.
Charlotte struggled to speak. At last, tears spilled down her cheeks.
“Andrew had no reaction to any of my techniques,” she sobbed. “In desperation, I used the final method you taught me, Madam Fontaine. I undressed completely and hoped he would lose control.”
Her voice broke. “But he remained unmoved. In the end, he knocked me unconscious. I don’t know what happened after that. But it’s true—nothing happened between us.”
Dorothy inhaled sharply.
“Nothing happened? So everything was staged by Andrew to deceive us? Damn him! He’s courting death.”
Her expression darkened. “Charlotte was right there, and he rejected her completely. And he resisted every technique she used. By our own agreement… we lost.”
She clenched her fists. “We didn’t get a single thing from him, and now we’re already marching down the mountain under his command. This is—”
Giovanni and the others exchanged grim looks.
Suddenly, Dorothy slapped Charlotte across the face.
Charlotte’s head snapped to the side. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
“You useless girl!” Dorothy snapped. “Andrew is immensely powerful—the perfect cultivation partner. How could you let him slip away?”
Her eyes narrowed. “And if nothing happened, why was there foreign energy inside your body earlier?”
Charlotte held her swollen cheek, heart shattered.
“Madam Fontaine, I truly tried my best,” she cried. “That energy must have been deliberately transferred into me by Mr. Lloyd to mislead you. I can’t feel it anymore.”
Dorothy’s expression hardened. She reached out to examine Charlotte again.
The moment she did, her composure nearly shattered.
“That bastard!” she hissed. “Send the order immediately—recall all disciples. Andrew is playing tricks. I will not let this go.”
