Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3336
As Andrew walked toward the cottage, Nyx, Valerie, and Rowan tensed. Along with their worry came a flicker of irritation. They couldn’t help wondering if their husband was truly that willing—after all, instead of fighting, the other side was practically offering him a beauty on a silver platter.
Nyx let out a sharp snort. “I’m going in with him.”
Dorothy stepped forward immediately. “I’m afraid that won’t work. If you accompany him, it defeats the purpose.”
Andrew glanced back over his shoulder. “Nyx, relax. I know what I’m doing. I’m not going to do anything reckless.”
Nyx bit her lip. “If you sense any danger, shout. I’ll be in there in a second.”
Andrew nodded, said nothing more, and pushed the door open.
It shut automatically behind him.
Outside, everyone waited—each lost in their own thoughts. Valerie, Rowan, and Jerome were on edge, worried Harmony Sect might be setting a trap. Dorothy and Giovanni, meanwhile, wore barely concealed looks of satisfaction.
Besides Giovanni, a few male disciples stood nearby. In Harmony Sect, women held the highest status. Ordinary male disciples had no right to stand beside the sect leader. Only a select few—handsome, talented men, along with Giovanni, the sole male elder—were granted that privilege.
Yet whether it was the younger disciples or Giovanni himself, envy burned in their eyes.
Giovanni, in particular, licked his lips unconsciously.
Charlotte was Dorothy’s personal disciple—one of a kind within Harmony Sect. She had been born with the rare Pale Specter Constitution, a natural gift that made dual cultivation exceptionally beneficial for her partner. Giovanni had always assumed he would be her first cultivation partner.
She was barely in her early twenties, at the peak of youth and beauty. Because of her specialized techniques, she had remained untouched until now. Within the sect, Giovanni held seniority and formidable strength. In his mind, he was the obvious choice.
But Dorothy had chosen Andrew instead.
Side by side, whether in age or appearance, Giovanni knew he couldn’t compete. The realization filled him with resentment.
He cast a dark glance at Valerie, Rowan, and Nyx, sneering inwardly.
‘Andrew has women everywhere he goes—he’s drowning in them. A man living like that has to be depleted by now. The moment he sees Charlotte, he’ll crumble. Thirty seconds, tops. He’ll lose control and humiliate himself. And when that happens, it’ll finally be my turn.’
Dorothy’s thoughts ran deeper.
‘Andrew’s martial power surpasses anyone in Harmony Sect. If we refuse to join the war and confront him head-on, we’ll lose. The smarter move is to let Charlotte handle him. Let him become so entangled with her that he forgets himself.’
‘Charlotte practices our highest technique. She’ll seize his powerful essence and strengthen herself. And once he tastes that pleasure, he may not even want to leave Harmony Sect.’
‘When Charlotte has absorbed enough, I’ll step in and take the rest. Once he’s no longer useful, we’ll send him away.’
‘Even if the Lloyd royal family is dissatisfied, they won’t expose it publicly. How could they admit that Andrew lost himself to women at Harmony Sect and ruined his own future? The scandal alone would be too humiliating.’
Outside, schemes and suspicions intertwined.
Inside the room, the moment Andrew stepped in, a rich floral fragrance washed over him.
His first instinct was caution. He immediately regulated his breathing, protecting his inner energy in case it was poison.
Then a soft voice drifted through the room.
“Mr. Lloyd, there’s no need to be on guard. The fragrance is harmless. It only calms the mind and sharpens awareness.”
Andrew glanced around.
The room was small but meticulously arranged. A chessboard sat neatly in one corner. Ink and quills were aligned on a writing desk. Dried flowers were mounted along the walls like pressed art, still carrying a faint, lingering scent. The space radiated elegance—refined, timeless, untouched by anything modern.
By the window, seated on the edge of a bed, was a young woman in a flowing sky-blue dress. Her back faced him, her gaze turned toward the glass. Even from behind, her silhouette was graceful and poised.
The beautiful voice had clearly come from her.
Andrew kept his tone respectful. “Miss, I’m here at Madam Fontaine’s request. Forgive the intrusion.”
Charlotte rose slowly, still not turning around. Her voice remained soft and unhurried.
“There’s nothing to forgive, Mr. Lloyd. If anything, Harmony Sect is the one that overstepped. To approach you with such a request from the beginning… A man of your standing would naturally find it distasteful.”
Andrew hadn’t expected such courtesy.
A flicker of surprise crossed his face before he allowed himself a faint smile. “It’s fine. Then… shall we begin?”
Charlotte gave a quiet hum of acknowledgment but still did not show her face.
Andrew didn’t rush. Instead, he took a seat nearby.
Charlotte slowly loosened her outer robe.
Andrew was momentarily startled. He hadn’t expected her to be so direct.
“If you do this,” he said evenly, “you may be putting yourself at a disadvantage.”
One slender shoulder was revealed as she turned slightly, her voice carrying a shy warmth.
“Mr. Lloyd, if we are meant to share intimacy tonight, what difference does it make whether it happens sooner or later?”
Soon, her flawless, snow-white figure stood before him.
Andrew’s expression did not change.
He looked at her as calmly as if he were gazing at a stone—steady, unmoved, completely unaffected.
