Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3334
Dorothy didn’t get angry. She simply smiled. “May I ask—who are these three to Mr. Lloyd?”
Before Andrew could respond, Nyx answered coldly, “We’re his girlfriends. And his future wives.”
Dorothy laughed brightly. “I didn’t expect Mr. Lloyd to be such a romantic. Three confidantes, all top-tier beauties. Even I feel a little jealous.”
Nyx let out a quiet scoff. Whatever goodwill the three women had felt toward Harmony Sect’s breathtaking scenery vanished instantly. Now, all they saw was Dorothy’s shameless audacity.
Yet Dorothy showed no trace of embarrassment.
“So, Mr. Andrew,” she continued smoothly, “my request isn’t excessive, is it? One night of dual cultivation with Charlotte, and Harmony Sect will join the war without hesitation.”
A strong resistance rose in Andrew’s chest, but his voice remained calm. “Madam Fontaine, may I ask why this is necessary? What exactly does Harmony Sect gain from my cultivating with Elder Easterling?”
Dorothy’s eyes gleamed. “Oh, the benefits would be extraordinary. In the past hundred years, Harmony Sect has never encountered a dual cultivation partner even half as ideal as Mr. Lloyd.”
Andrew’s lips curved into a faint, cold smile. “From what I understand, dual cultivation with Harmony Sect isn’t exactly a fair deal for the man involved. It may appear pleasurable on the surface, but it drains a man’s core energy at its root. So I’ll have to decline, Madam Fontaine.”
Dorothy sighed, looking genuinely regretful. “First, Mr. Lloyd, you’ve been misinformed. Cultivating with Charlotte wouldn’t harm you in any way. If anything, it would benefit you. And second—if you refuse, Harmony Sect simply cannot join the war effort. The choice is entirely yours.”
Andrew’s gaze cooled. “And if I insist that Harmony Sect join? Madam Fontaine, would you choose to resist—like the Umbral Peak Sect and the Divine Alchemists?”
The threat was unmistakable.
At this point, Andrew had no reason to restrain himself. He was already among Holtrien’s top martial powers. Acting overly accommodating would only waste time. Sometimes, a true powerhouse had to carry himself like one.
Dorothy’s expression shifted, just slightly. “Mr. Lloyd, Harmony Sect is a small sect. We have no desire to end up like the Divine Alchemists or Umbral Peak Sect.”
She paused, then added calmly, “But you can’t simply use your strength to crush us into submission. We’ve maintained a clean reputation in Holtrien. And as it happens, I have some acquaintance with Patriarch Donovan. Surely that counts for something, doesn’t it, Mr. Lloyd?”
Andrew hesitated for a fraction of a second.
This woman was formidable. Soft and delicate on the surface, yet every word was calculated. She never cornered herself. She always left an exit.
A true veteran of negotiation.
“Madam Fontaine,” Andrew said at last, his voice measured, “your condition puts me in a difficult position. Perhaps I can offer Harmony Sect something else.”
He continued, “Once this is over, I’m willing to have Medicine God’s Covenant supply Harmony Sect with a batch of premium-grade elixirs.”
Dorothy’s eyes widened immediately. “Is Medicine God’s Covenant in Chetvine yours, Mr. Lloyd?”
Andrew nodded. “It is. What do you think, Madam Fontaine?”
Dorothy was clearly tempted.
The offer stirred her interest—but what she truly wanted was Andrew’s rare, high-purity vital energy. If Charlotte could absorb it, her cultivation would surge, potentially rivaling Dorothy’s own. That meant securing Harmony Sect’s future successor—one who might even surpass her.
With visible reluctance, Dorothy shook her head. “Mr. Lloyd, your offer is incredibly tempting. I won’t deny that. But Charlotte’s future—and Harmony Sect’s long-term growth—must come first.”
She smiled thoughtfully. “What if we meet in the middle?”
Andrew had been half a heartbeat away from forcing her hand. But she had invoked her connection to the Lloyd royal family and was now proposing a compromise. He decided to hear her out.
Dorothy continued, “Here’s my proposal. If you can meet Charlotte and remain completely unaffected—keep your composure, resist her presence—then Harmony Sect will drop all conditions and join you without question.”
Her smile deepened.
“But if you meet her and find yourself unable to resist… and willingly pursue cultivation with her… then it can hardly be said that Harmony Sect forced you, can it?”
Andrew frowned slightly.
On the surface, it sounded simple. All he had to do was resist temptation. That should have been effortless for him.
Which was exactly why it didn’t sit right.
