Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3316
Monty sneered. “You think you can play games with me? What if I refuse?”
Clarence’s eyes burned. “Then don’t blame me for getting rough.”
Monty let out a cold laugh. “Getting rough? On Umbral Peak Sect’s turf? Forget being the military’s top general—even if you were the War God himself, even if General Turman came in person, I could refuse him if I wanted to!”
Julius added coolly, “Mr. Reyes, why waste so many words? Or are you saying Umbral Peak Sect lacks prestige? If someone dared cause trouble in Divine Alchemists’ territory, I’d make sure he regretted ever being born.”
Monty’s face darkened instantly. Julius’ words were a slap in disguise—implying Umbral Peak Sect was spineless enough to let a military general push them around.
“Elder Redford,” Monty ordered coldly, “show them out.”
Glenn Redford stepped forward, expression blank. “Get lost. Or Umbral Peak Sect will wipe you out.”
With a sharp metallic ring, Clarence drew his combat blade.
“So Umbral Peak Sect truly doesn’t care whether the people of Holtrien live or die?” he said coldly. “If that’s the case, what’s the point of your sect even existing? You’re nothing but parasites feeding off this nation.”
Glenn exploded with rage. “You’ve got a death wish!”
Steel clashed instantly.
The other Umbral Peak elders surged forward with contempt, attacking the remaining soldiers. Though battle-hardened, the military men quickly began to falter under the sect’s overwhelming force.
One soldier was struck so hard he was sent flying, both arms snapping on impact. An elder strode toward him with a vicious grin.
“So what if you’re military? You dared cause trouble here. Now die!”
From the main seat, Monty and Julius watched with cold smiles. In Monty’s mind, this was necessary. The military needed a lesson—otherwise they might really think Umbral Peak Sect could be bullied.
They had drawn weapons on his turf. To him, that was suicide.
Clarence roared in fury, slashing an elder in front of him and sending the man flying. But before he could rush to save his injured soldier, another elder intercepted him, blocking his path.
He could only watch helplessly as the wounded soldier was about to be cut in half.
Clarence’s heart burned with rage and despair. He had brought only a small team because the front lines were stretched thin—Philip couldn’t spare more men. And now, not only had Umbral Peak Sect refused to help, they were abusing their power to slaughter his brothers.
His blood boiled.
Even if he died here, he wouldn’t let his men fall in vain.
Then—
A sickening sound split the air. The unmistakable noise of a blade piercing flesh.
A body dropped to the ground.
But it wasn’t the military soldier.
It was the Umbral Peak disciple who had raised his weapon to strike.
The disciple let out a final scream before collapsing lifelessly.
Monty, Julius, and Clarence all reacted at once.
“Who did that?!” Monty roared, shooting to his feet as his aura exploded violently. “Whoever dares kill a disciple of my sect—I’ll tear you limb from limb!”
Julius’ eyes snapped toward the entrance of the main hall. His body tensed without him realizing it. For the first time, a flicker of unease crossed his face.
Clarence halted mid-strike and turned in shock.
Several figures were walking in slowly—casually, as if strolling through a park.
At the front stood a man dressed in black, carrying an absurdly massive greatsword.
The moment Clarence saw him, his mind went blank.
“Captain!” he blurted.
Julius, however, snarled through clenched teeth, “Andrew, you little punk! Your timing is perfect—but coming here will only get you killed!”
