Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3311
Andrew’s voice cracked like ice. “With my next strike, I’ll take your heads off. Kneel.”
Despair swallowed Rupert whole. Gritting his teeth, he dropped to his knees. Survival left him no other choice. Even so, hatred churned in his chest. From the very beginning, Julius had stood by and watched, refusing to lift a finger. Rupert was convinced that if Julius had stepped in, Thunder Sect wouldn’t have fallen this fast.
He blurted out, “Andrew, don’t kill me. I can tell you something important. Julius Bowen of the Divine Alchemists is here at Thunder Sect right now. You two have deep grudges between you—I know you’ve been looking for him.”
Andrew’s expression didn’t change. “That coward already ran. It doesn’t matter. I’ll find him sooner or later.”
He had been focused on breaking the sect’s formation and hadn’t had time to chase Julius when he slipped away. Even so, Andrew had clearly sensed Julius’ aura retreating. If he hadn’t been dismantling the formation, Julius wouldn’t have gotten far.
Still, Julius couldn’t escape forever. Of the Eight Ancient Sects, Thunder Sect had already submitted. That left fewer places for Julius to hide.
Andrew lowered his blade and looked down at Rupert. “You know why I came. Holtrien is in crisis, yet the ancient sects lock themselves away and live in comfort. Don’t you think that’s ungrateful?”
Clutching his severed arm, Rupert burned with anger but didn’t dare lash out. After a moment, he growled, “Andrew, the ancient sects have always avoided worldly conflict. We rarely leave the mountains or interfere in secular disputes. Isn’t it excessive to demand our help now?”
Andrew’s voice turned icy. “Go ahead and say that louder. Let everyone hear the garbage coming out of your mouth. You claim Thunder Sect never steps outside, but how does your sect survive? Isn’t it funded by the people of Holtrien?”
He continued, “You may stay behind closed doors, but that doesn’t mean you haven’t profited from society. Just like the Divine Alchemists—do you really think Thunder Sect is any better?”
Rupert spat bitterly, “What do the lives and deaths of common people have to do with us? Even if Holtrien falls, the ancient sects will survive.”
A chilling smile curved across Andrew’s face. “So you’re stubborn to the end. Since you think your life is more valuable than anyone else’s, I’ll let you watch your own head hit the ground. Then you can decide whether you’re really that special.”
The killing intent in Andrew’s eyes shattered Rupert’s last trace of pride. Panic surged through him. “Wait—don’t kill me! You can’t. I’m still the head of Thunder Sect. Just tell me what you want. We’ll obey.”
Andrew sneered. “As expected. Only when death is staring you in the face do you finally learn how to behave. Take your disciples and head to the eastern Azure Gate immediately. Holtrien’s war to defend the nation has begun. As part of Holtrien, Thunder Sect has no excuse not to contribute.”
He added coldly, “You can ignore me. But you’ll pay with your life if you do.”
Rupert let out a bitter laugh. “Fine. I’ll take all of Thunder Sect and head out right away.”
