Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3306
Like most ancient sects, the Thunder Sect was hidden deep within a secluded, blessed pocket of land.
At that moment, inside a vast mountain range, the Thunder Sect’s stronghold stood in absolute silence.
In the main hall, the sect leader, Rupert Hudson, wore a cold, grim expression as he looked down at the more than one thousand disciples gathered below him.
Then he began.
“Are you all willing to leave the mountain to fight? To risk your lives?”
Over a thousand voices answered in perfect unison.
“We are not willing!”
Rupert nodded, seemingly pleased.
“Then tell me—what is the true purpose of cultivating and seeking the Way?”
The disciples responded again, their voices echoing through the hall.
“To seek freedom, transcend the mortal world, and escape the sea of suffering endured by ignorant men!”
Rupert’s expression grew even more satisfied.
He asked his final question.
“Last question. Are you people of Holtrien—or are you disciples of the Thunder Sect? Do you take orders from outsiders, or from me?”
The hall shook with their roar.
“Until death, we are disciples of the Thunder Sect! We obey only the sect leader’s orders—no one else!”
A smile slowly spread across Rupert’s face before turning into booming laughter.
He turned his head toward Julius, who sat nearby with gray hair and a blank expression.
“What do you think?” Rupert said proudly. “Are my disciples united? You claim Andrew plans to force the Thunder Sect to act against our will. Who does he think he is?”
His voice hardened.
“He’s not worthy.”
The arrogance in his tone was unmistakable.
Rupert settled back into the sect leader’s throne with complete confidence.
Julius glanced over the gathered disciples, assessing their morale, then spoke flatly.
“We still can’t afford to be careless. Even if your thousand disciples are united, Andrew has considerable forces behind him.”
Rupert scoffed. “So what? They’re nothing but a pack of useless nobodies. We cultivate truth and practice the Way. We are martial artists. How could the mediocrities around Andrew possibly compare?”
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“But you’re acting strangely. With your strength and your pride, why are you boosting others while dampening your own side’s confidence? Are you afraid?”
Julius met his gaze coldly.
“In my entire life, I’ve never known fear. I’m reminding you not to be arrogant. Trevor died in Chetvine, didn’t he? Andrew is capable of anything.”
Rupert snorted.
“If he has the guts to come here, then don’t blame the Thunder Sect for being ruthless. I’ll kill that brat sooner or later to avenge Trevor.”
Julius had no interest in that bravado.
“By the way,” he asked calmly, “have you managed to contact Guillermo?”
Rupert waved a dismissive hand. “No. Can’t reach him. He probably saw things turning bad and ran. Hard to imagine Guillermo ending up like this.”
His expression darkened slightly.
“Years ago, he ignored my advice. If he had eliminated Andrew early on, we wouldn’t be in this mess today.”
Julius frowned. “You make it sound simple. Back then, Reginald and the Lloyd royal family weren’t weak. Do you really think killing Andrew would’ve been child’s play?”
Rupert leaned back arrogantly.
“It’s a shame the Thunder Sect never entered the world to compete for dominance. Otherwise, the one standing in Holtrien’s court wouldn’t be Guillermo.”
He tapped his chest.
“It would be me.”
Julius was no stranger to arrogance himself.
But Rupert’s confidence crossed into recklessness.
Unfortunately, Julius had few better options.
The Sword Sect had no one suitable to work with. Harmony Sect was even less viable—those women were always trying to drag him into dual cultivation and exploit his peak martial god realm. As for Mount Lourneau, Luther’s position remained unclear, and he had never offered Julius an opening.
Julius stood, his expression indifferent.
“Since there’s no word from Guillermo, I’ll return to rest. For now, our two sects are allied for survival. If you have questions, consult me anytime.”
Rupert waved him off.
“No need. There’s nothing the Thunder Sect can’t handle on its own.”
