Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3299
Victoria had always been disciplined—especially when it came to her emotions. She was used to suppressing every flicker of desire, every dangerous thought.
But back then, she had truly considered losing herself to Andrew completely.
After her martial path was destroyed, her mindset had shifted again and again. At first, she had been devastated and directionless, forced to swallow her despair and endure in silence. Then Andrew promised he would never abandon her, and hope slowly returned.
And then came the news of his accident—his escape from Holtrien and his journey across the ocean to the Outlands.
She had been powerless, stranded in Gabo Creek, unable to help him in any way. Yet thoughts of Andrew’s safety had haunted her every waking moment.
Suddenly, a sharp pain tore through her body. A violent current surged across her meridians, rushing through her limbs like a flood breaking a dam.
Victoria let out a soft moan, feeling as though something inside her was about to burst free. She clenched her teeth and whispered, “Andrew… is it almost done?”
“Almost,” he replied quickly.
Her entire body was drenched in sweat.
But the hardest thing to endure wasn’t the physical pain. It was the turmoil in her heart.
Andrew was holding her close. She had been celibate for years, and she had thought about him far too often. Now they were this close—closer than ever—bodies nearly pressed together.
Victoria let out a faint, breathy cry. “Andrew… I can’t take it anymore.”
Andrew’s thoughts wavered for a split second.
The way her waist trembled in his grasp, the heat in her breath—he wasn’t naïve. He understood exactly what this tension meant.
But he forced himself to stay focused.
Then two dull, booming sounds echoed from within her body.
Victoria cried out softly and collapsed.
Her two primary meridians had been fully opened.
Andrew immediately channeled another surge of true force into her body, strengthening and stabilizing her newly restored pathways. He only stopped when her body could no longer endure the influx.
“How do you feel?” he asked, helping her up, concern clear in his voice.
Victoria’s cheeks were flushed, her eyes slightly unfocused. She rolled her eyes at him weakly. “You little menace… were you trying to kill me? My back nearly snapped.”
Andrew looked apologetic. “Give it a couple of days. Your strength just came back. Your body needs time to adjust.”
Victoria hummed softly and forced herself to stand, gritting her teeth as she tested her balance.
The sensation flowing through her body was overwhelming—powerful, vibrant, alive.
Joy surged through her.
“Andrew… thank you,” she said sincerely. “I never thought I’d regain my martial arts in this lifetime.”
Andrew waved it off with a smile. “We’re family. There’s no need to thank me. I’m just happy to see you fully recovered.”
Victoria didn’t respond right away. She simply looked at him, her smile radiant but slightly unnatural, as if she were holding something back.
Andrew shifted under her gaze and stammered, “We should… probably head out. Everyone will worry.”
She nodded gently.
As she watched him leave the meditation room, a flicker of disappointment crossed her eyes.
But it quickly gave way to excitement and gratitude.
The martial path she had cherished most in her life had returned to her.
As for the longing still lingering in her heart, she would let it drift like wind through empty air.
If Andrew ever took the initiative, she would not refuse him.
But for her to step forward first?
Her lifelong pride—and restraint—would never allow it.
And yet, it was precisely because Andrew had restrained himself that she admired him even more.
She knew, with quiet certainty, that she had not misjudged this young man.
