Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3282

At the border of Chetvine, Sergio stood with the Harding family’s top fighters, eyes sweeping the darkness without pause.

    The night was still.

Then Guillermo’s voice carried from the shadows.

    “Mr. Harding Senior, we’ve arrived.”

Even in the dim light, Sergio’s eyelids twitched. Relief flickered through him, though he kept his tone composed. “Mr. Vazquez, please come out so we can speak face-to-face.”

Guillermo’s reply was cold and measured. “Tell me where the exit is first. Then I’ll step out.”

A flash of irritation surged through Sergio.

    Too cautious.

Still, he answered smoothly. “There’s a small side gate beside the old city wall behind us. It’s nothing special—locals dug it out years ago for daily use. It was later preserved for convenience.”

He added casually, “The Harding family has operated in this area for years. Getting out is easy. Just give the guard a word.”

    Silence followed.

Sergio knew exactly what was happening. Guillermo was verifying the information. Though his voice sounded close, it was projected from at least fifty yards away. With refined martial skill, that was effortless.

    Caution ruled everything.

    A moment later, footsteps approached.

The four Martial Saint experts and one Martial Emperor from the Harding family turned in unison.

Guillermo stepped out of the darkness, flanked by Cormac and a smiling Wesley.

“Mr. Harding Senior,” Guillermo greeted, “today’s rescue—I’ll repay it a hundredfold.”

    Sergio sneered inwardly.

Repay it? You won’t live long enough to repay anything.

Outwardly, he smiled politely. “No need for such formality, Mr. Vazquez. And these two?”

“My friends,” Guillermo said flatly. “We’re traveling together.”

Sergio knew full well they were tied to the Cavendish royal family, but he feigned ignorance. “Understood. Let’s move. Once we pass this section of the old wall, you’ll be outside Chetvine. After that, you’re free to go wherever you please.”

Guillermo gave a brief nod but kept scanning the area, vigilant for any shift in the wind.

Sergio led them toward the small gate.

“Mr. Vazquez, wait here a moment. I’ll fetch someone,” Sergio said casually.

Without waiting for a response, he veered toward the side of the gate and disappeared into the darkness.

Guillermo frowned but held his tongue.

Then Wesley leaned in, voice barely above a whisper.

“We’re screwed. This is a trap.”

    Cormac and Guillermo both stiffened.

Guillermo snapped, his nerves already frayed, “Cut it out! Don’t give us a heart attack.”

Ever since Andrew had shattered his martial foundation, leaving him with less than one percent of his strength, Guillermo had been walking a razor’s edge. Even moving too quickly left him short of breath. If something went wrong now, he wouldn’t survive it.

Cormac shot Wesley a glare. “Can you drop the panic for once? This isn’t the time.”

“You think I’m joking?” Wesley hissed. “Look at their positioning.”

    Cormac glanced over.

From his peak Martial God perspective, the flaw was obvious.

The Harding family experts had shifted—subtly, almost imperceptibly—into a loose encirclement.

It wasn’t the formation of an escort.

It was the formation of a cage.

A chill ran down his spine.

Just moments ago, they had taken Sergio’s words at face value, believing he was genuinely helping them escape.

    But now—

Guillermo’s senses were dulled. His foundation was crippled. He was surviving on elixirs and sheer willpower. His awareness, once razor-sharp, had deteriorated badly.

And by the time they realized the truth—

It might already be too late.
