Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3276
Guillermo fell silent for a moment, then let out a low laugh.
“Mr. Harding Senior, it seems you’re still fairly clear-headed. But there’s no need for that. I already have a way out of Chetvine. Let’s stay in touch. Once I’m out, we can plan further. I may still need you.”
Sergio’s heart sank. Disappointment washed over him, but he didn’t let it show.
He pressed on, trying to reel him back in. “Mr. Vazquez, take care of yourself. The Harding family will always be waiting for you to lead us. That said, the route I know is extremely discreet. It was part of the Harding family’s old foundation. If you need it, I’m at your service anytime.”
Guillermo chuckled. “Mr. Harding Senior, I appreciate the goodwill. But I already have someone guiding me. There’s no need.”
Then he hung up.
Sergio’s face darkened as he looked at Luna.
She spoke evenly. “It’s no big deal. He’s cautious. A national advisor isn’t easily fooled. Mr. Harding Senior, you’ve already done very well. I’ll report everything to Andrew.”
Sergio gritted his teeth. “That old bastard… Even with one foot in the grave, he’s still this careful. The problem is, once he’s out of Chetvine, he can go anywhere.”
Luna frowned. She was thinking the same thing.
Stopping Guillermo felt almost impossible.
Suddenly, Sergio’s phone rang again.
Luna stiffened and whispered urgently, “Answer it!”
Sergio glanced at the caller ID. Joy surged through him, but he kept his tone neutral. “Mr. Vazquez, what is it?”
Guillermo’s voice came through calmly. “Mr. Harding Senior, after thinking it over, I’ve decided to use the location your family is providing after all.”
Sergio deliberately sounded hesitant. “Mr. Vazquez, didn’t you say you already had a plan? This is sudden. I’ll need time to make arrangements. You know how it is—Chetvine is Andrew’s territory now. The Harding family has to move carefully.”
Guillermo let out a cold laugh. “That kid will die sooner or later. Mr. Harding Senior, make the arrangements quickly and notify me. I’ll come immediately. I can’t trust anyone else. We’ve worked together for decades—we’re old friends. I trust you.”
Sergio was no amateur. He didn’t show too much enthusiasm. Instead, he hesitated, as if reluctant.
“Fine. I’ll risk it one more time for you. But let’s be clear—once you’re out, you need to secure a path forward for the Harding family.”
“Don’t worry,” Guillermo replied. “I won’t forget the Harding family’s help. Mr. Harding Senior, hurry up. I can’t wait much longer.”
Sergio said, “Alright. I’ll need at least half an hour. Wait for my message.”
After the call ended, Sergio finally allowed himself a wide grin.
“General Phelan,” he said, unable to hide his satisfaction, “we did it.”
Luna’s eyes lit up. “Let’s move. You’re in charge of directing operations.”
Sergio half-joked, “General Phelan, aren’t you worried Guillermo and I are working together to deceive you?”
Luna’s voice was flat and cold. “I don’t need to worry. I’m notifying Nyx to go to your family estate right now. She’s Andrew’s woman, and she loves him deeply. If you betray us… well, Nyx only cares about Andrew. She won’t care about cruelty or consequences. She’ll wipe out your entire family without hesitation.”
“General!” Sergio roared.
But the anger drained from him just as quickly. He lowered his head.
Without another word, he led his men toward the designated location—the place where they would lure Guillermo into the trap.
Luna’s expression remained unreadable.
After all the back-and-forth, she had no intention of trusting anyone lightly.
In fact, she was becoming colder. More ruthless.
The Luna of the past had been righteous—perhaps too upright, too principled.
But now, she had changed.
Human hearts were treacherous. If she didn’t harden herself, she would never keep pace with Andrew.
