Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3275
When the two families received the devastating news, neither hesitated. They agreed to cooperate immediately.
On the Cunningham side, Conrad stepped forward without a second thought and declared that even if it cost him his life, he would intercept Guillermo.
On the Harding side, Sergio said nothing. He gathered his people and left at once.
Luna followed behind him, her expression unreadable.
Sergio slowed his steps and offered a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “General Phelan, do you not trust me?”
Luna’s voice was calm and steady. “Mr. Harding Senior, we should move faster. As for anything else, there’s no need to discuss it.”
Sergio let out a bitter laugh. “Don’t worry. Even if I had a hundred lives, I wouldn’t dare act recklessly. In the past, the Harding family may have wavered. But after nearly dying once, I finally understand how terrifying Andrew is. Guillermo is no match for him. His death is only a matter of time.”
Luna responded with a quiet hum, clearly unconvinced.
After a moment, Sergio spoke again. “General Phelan, I have a proposal. I don’t know if you’re willing to hear it.”
Luna’s gaze sharpened instantly. “Mr. Harding Senior, don’t try anything. I’ve already said it—if Andrew decides to act, no one will be able to stop him from wiping out your family.”
Sergio’s expression darkened. “Don’t worry. Even if I wanted to gamble with my own life, I wouldn’t risk the lives of so many others. I know Andrew’s temper. When he loses control, he can kill without hesitation.
“But my proposal gives us a very high chance of capturing Guillermo.”
Luna’s interest stirred. “Go on.”
Sergio lowered his voice. “It’s simple. I’ll contact Mr. Vazquez right now. I’ll tell him I can get him out of Chetvine. Once he shows up, we strike immediately and kill him.”
Luna was taken aback and hesitated.
But the plan was solid.
Sergio pressed on. “General Phelan, don’t doubt my resolve. The real question is whether Guillermo will trust me. I’ll pretend I hate Andrew. I’ll say I’m willing to help him escape—as long as he helps the Harding family get revenge.
“Given his current situation, he won’t be in a position to question it.”
After a brief pause, Luna nodded. “Alright. We’ll do it your way. If you truly manage to stop him, I’ll report everything the Harding family has done to Andrew truthfully.”
Sergio waved a hand, a trace of fatigue in his voice. “I’ve been through enough. The edge I once had is gone. I don’t want to play high-stakes games with a hero like him anymore.
“I can’t afford to lose. And if he decides to destroy me, it would take him no effort at all.”
With that, he immediately contacted Guillermo.
For a long time, there was no response.
Just as Sergio was about to give up, a voice finally came through.
“Mr. Harding Senior, what is it?”
Sergio and Luna exchanged a glance. Both felt their heartbeats spike.
Sergio spoke quickly. “Mr. Vazquez, where are you right now?”
A cold snort came from the other end. “Mr. Harding Senior, do you really think I’d tell you that?”
Sergio let out an awkward laugh. “Fair enough. Your safety comes first. Even if I called out of goodwill, you wouldn’t trust me.”
Guillermo snorted again, though his tone softened slightly. “I don’t trust anyone right now. I’ll be leaving Chetvine soon. If you have something to say, say it. If not, don’t contact me again.”
Sergio replied, “Mr. Vazquez, I can arrange a way for you to leave Chetvine.”
There was a brief silence before Guillermo asked evenly, “What do you mean by that? Are you planning to betray Andrew?”
Sergio’s voice turned cold. “That arrogant brat didn’t just suppress the Harding family—he nearly crippled me. Do you think I can just swallow that humiliation?”
