Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3272

The dagger slipped from his hand.

Guillermo collapsed heavily onto the floor, sitting there as he dragged air into his lungs. Each breath burned. He raised a trembling hand and touched the ruined eye—now nothing but darkness. Venomous hatred blazed in the other.

Cormac’s voice was calm, almost detached.

“Mr. Vazquez, you’ve endured much. But since it has come to this, there is no point dwelling on it. Chetvine is no longer somewhere we can remain.”

He glanced toward the shattered walls.

“I am the only one from my family who reached Chetvine. To avoid pursuit from the Lloyd family—and whatever contingencies Philip may have left behind—we must leave immediately.”

Guillermo said nothing for a long time.

Rage twisted across his face. Then unwillingness. Then—slowly—fear. A pale dread crept in.

    Cormac continued evenly.

“If I had not arrived when I did, you would be dead. In that final moment, Andrew’s fighting spirit and killing intent exceeded yours completely.

“If he hadn’t already been heavily injured from his battle with Pablo… if you had faced him at full strength…”

    Cormac paused.

“I would not have needed to rescue you.”

    Guillermo’s jaw tightened.

“You’re very kind to remind me.”

    His tone was icy.

“Can your family repair this armor?”

He struggled out of the battered battle armor, regret stabbing through him. Wesley stepped forward, examined it briefly, and shook his head.

“There’s no point. Your armor couldn’t withstand Andrew’s Godslayer.”

    His voice was almost amused.

“A treasure that cannot block damage or save your life—no matter how rare—is useless.”

Guillermo laughed bitterly at himself and tossed the armor aside. The motion pulled at his wounds, and he sucked in a sharp breath.

“I’ll go with you,” he said. “But I need to return to my estate first.”

“No need,” Wesley replied lightly. “By now, your territory is likely overrun by experts from the Reyes family and the Robertson family.”

    Guillermo’s expression darkened.

“Under Andrew’s coordination, Finnegan and the Robertson elites joined forces. If I’m not mistaken, by dawn all of Chetvine will be plastered with bounties for your arrest—or execution.”

Guillermo roared, fury cracking through his exhaustion.

“Those rats! They think Andrew can lead them after forcing me out?”

    Wesley smiled faintly.

“You must admit, Mr. Vazquez… your momentum is gone.”

    Silence lingered.

“Come with us,” Wesley continued. “On Cavendish royal territory, you may still have a chance. War has broken out at Azure Gate. With your strength, you could carve out another opportunity in the chaos.”

At those words, Guillermo’s remaining eye narrowed.

    Ambition flickered back to life.

“…Fine. I’ll go. We leave now.”

    Then doubt crept in.

“But can we even escape Chetvine?”

    Cormac answered calmly.

“If it were anyone else, no. But our family has operations here. Leaving quietly will not be difficult.”

Guillermo hesitated before asking in a low voice,

“Will the Cavendish family help me take revenge?”

    Wesley only smiled.

    He neither agreed nor refused.

    Cormac, however, was direct.

    “Not now.”

    His gaze sharpened.

“Andrew is about to become the man with the greatest momentum in all of Holtrien. If he declared himself ruler tomorrow, many would support him.”

    He let that settle.

“The Cavendish family will not allow you to throw your life away at a time like this. As I said—wait. Watch.”

    Guillermo exhaled slowly.

Then he laughed—a hollow, self-mocking sound.

“I went this far… and still couldn’t kill that brat.”

His voice dropped to a whisper.

“It seems fate wants me dead.”

He had forgotten that only hours earlier, he had boasted to Andrew that even heaven stood on his side.

Now heaven felt very far away.
