Rising from the Ashes (Andrew and Lauren) Chapter 3268
Twisted with rage, Guillermo suddenly grabbed Jose and yanked him in front of him.
Jose cried out in panic. “Mr. Vazquez, what—”
He never finished.
A horrifying scream ripped from his throat as Primordial Thunder surged forward like a venomous python, drilling straight into his body. Guillermo used him as a human shield, holding him up to absorb the strike. Even then, thin arcs of lightning slipped through Jose’s body and crawled into Guillermo’s arm.
Guillermo sneered. “Jose, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”
His grip tightened.
“Now’s your chance to repay me.”
Smoke curled from Jose’s mouth as broken, choking sounds escaped him. Then, with a dull thud, his body hit the ground like a piece of charred coal. It convulsed violently one last time.
His skin was nearly burned through. His body was unrecognizable.
His face was the worst of it. Primordial Thunder had torn through every vein and nerve, destroying what little living tissue remained—inside and out.
Only his eyes were intact.
They stared upward, wide with disbelief and unbearable pain.
“M-Mr. Vazquez… why… why would you… do this?”
With the last scraps of strength, Jose turned his gaze toward Guillermo.
Then it was gone.
His eyes fell shut.
His life slipped away.
Andrew leaned heavily on the Godslayer, breathing hard. His expression held nothing but contempt and icy mockery.
“You’d sacrifice your own man?” he said coldly. “Guillermo, this is exactly how someone like you ends up—alone. You’re worse than an animal.”
Guillermo burst into laughter, completely unmoved by Jose’s death. He began circling Andrew slowly, a savage grin stretching across his face.
“If you want to be a real man, you have to be ruthless,” he said casually. “Jose’s death was a gift. And it was time he paid me back. At least he forced you to waste one attack.”
His eyes gleamed.
“What about the next one? Andrew… can you strike like that again?”
The moment the words left his mouth, he moved.
But he didn’t attack Andrew.
He lunged at Luna.
Luna screamed and stumbled backward in terror. Guillermo’s armored claw shot toward the crown of her head. If it landed, she would have died instantly.
Murderous intent exploded in Andrew’s eyes.
He lifted his sword and slashed toward Guillermo’s flank.
“You’re still too green to try that on me!” Guillermo barked with vicious laughter.
Then—he stopped.
Andrew’s greatsword sliced through nothing but air.
In the next instant, Guillermo’s armored claws drove forward and plunged deep into Andrew’s chest.
They ended up pressed together, face-to-face—close enough to feel each other’s breath.
“How’s that?” Guillermo laughed maniacally. “You’re dead this time.”
His five claws twisted inside Andrew’s body and tore backward.
Andrew let out a low grunt as blood and torn flesh ripped free in a brutal spray.
“Andrew!” Luna screamed, tears streaming down her face.
Guillermo had only pretended to target her. He’d baited Andrew into rushing forward.
And then he struck.
Andrew held his breath, his face flushing a deep crimson as agony twisted his features.
Guillermo laughed wildly and spun in one smooth motion. He wrenched Andrew’s arm, snapping it cleanly, and dragged him behind like broken prey.
Andrew groaned again.
But the red glow in his eyes only burned brighter.
